GTA V Headed for October 2012 Launch: Possible Leak

According to a possible leak by a Rockstar North employee, Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V), could be headed for an October 2012 launch. The employee in question, Alex O'Dwyer, a character animation developer, listed out the projects he worked on, in his CV, which included a mention of "Grand Theft Auto V", with a date of "Oct 2012". The CV has since been pulled, with no comment from O'Dwyer or Rockstar.

Xbox 360 Most Popular Games Of 2011

Microsoft has revealed the top 20 most popular games played on the Xbox 360 in 2011 based on numbers of unique users logged into Xbox LIVE (Silver and Gold members). Note that this gives a different result to the total playtime for a particular game, which has not been disclosed here. Unsurprisingly, the Call of Duty series dominates the chart, but what is sure to irk CoD detractors, but make fans very happy, is that a massive five of those positions are taken up by CoD - that's 25% of the rankings. Even CoD4: Modern Warfare which was released way back in 2007 sits at a very respectable number 14. However, top games Battlefield 3 and Skyrim did very well nonetheless, sitting at five and six respectively, with only Halo beating them at number 4. Can you guess which CoD game hit the top spot before looking at the chart?

Rockstar Reaches Hot Coffee Settlement

Rockstar Games has now managed to reach a settlement over the infamous "Hot Coffee" dispute which allowed gamers to unlock explicit content in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Customers who still have the original disk and a detailed store receipt can claim up to $35 in compensation, and those with just the disk but no receipt will still be able to claim $5.
Defendants do not dispute that the parts that were modified and combined to display the Hot Coffee content were present in the code of the game discs. However, Defendants vigorously deny each and every allegation of improper conduct, and they deny all liability. The notice and other settlement documents provide information about the lawsuit, the settlement, your legal rights, what benefits are available, who is eligible for them, and how to get them. Rockstar Games Announces Release Date for Grand Theft Auto IV

Rockstar Games has finally set a date for the release of one of the year's most anticipated software releases. Developed by Rockstar North, Grand Theft Auto IV will be simultaneously available for Xbox 360 and PLAYSTATION3 and will be in stores worldwide on April 29, 2008. "We are so excited to be releasing Grand Theft Auto IV," said Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games. "We've pushed ourselves very hard to make something incredible and hope the game sets a new benchmark for interactive entertainment." For more information, log onto GTA IV home page.

GTA Delays Could Put Take-Two in Financial Trouble

It looks like the delays involved in developing GTA IV could be causing some financial trouble for publisher Take-Two interactive. Grand Theft Auto IV, which is the latest instalment in the company's most successful series of games, was originally scheduled to be released in October this year, however it has since been pushed back to next year to give Rockstar Games (the division of Take-Two responsible for developing GTA) enough time to finish it. At the start of the year, Take-Two had around $138.15 million in cash, which had fallen to $61.62 million by the end of July. However, last month the company increased its five-year revolving credit facility up from $100 million to $140 million, and given the rate it's been losing money it could soon find itself drawing upon that facility. As a result, GTA IV is being hinted at as a make-or-break game for Take-Two, so the company will be hoping for no more delays.

Update: the trailer is now online, so take a look and see what you think.

Exclusive screens & details on GTA IV

Seems like Game Informer struck a deal with Rockstar Games to exclusively publish a ten-page long article on what seems to be one of the biggest games of this year: GTA IV. Accordingly they revealed the cover of their May issue, which will feature the exclusive article. It's definitely something worth looking forward to.
