Thermaltake Announces the Versa G2 Gaming PC Case

Thermaltake announced the Versa G2 ATX mid-tower gaming PC case (model: VO700A1W3N). Its design is characterized by a perforated front, a side-intake, and a small acrylic window to peep into it. Measuring 429 x 196 x 481 mm (WxDxH), and weighing about 4.5 kg, the case is made of SECC steel and ABS plastic. It features three 5.25-inch drive bays, one exposed and five discrete 3.5/2.5-inch drive bays, in what is a completely tool-free drive cage. Its cooling system consists of a 120 mm front intake fan, a 120 mm LED-lit rear exhaust, and provisions for two 120 mm top exhausts and one each on the side-panel and bottom. The case features all-black interiors, with most common cable and cooler management features.

Acer Launches TravelMate B113 Notebook Series

NEC Intros a Pair of Eco-Friendly Monitors

NEC announced the LCD-AS192WM line of 19-inch widescreen LCD monitors that are designed to go light on the power draw. Its LED-backlit TN film panels are mercury-free, and the materials used in general are simpler to produce, reducing your carbon footprint. The 16:10 panels feature 1440 x 900 pixels resolution, 16M color-palette, 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 5 ms response time, and 250 cd/m² maximum brightness. Its panel provides decent viewing angles, of 170° horizontal, and 160° vertical. Display inputs include DVI and D-Sub. The series includes white (LCD-AS192WM) and black (LCD-AS192WM-BK) variants. Expect entry-level pricing.

Iiyama Intros 23.6-inch Kiosk-Worthy Touchscreen: ProLite T2452MTS

Iiyama's 21.5-inch ProLite T2234MC, launched last week, might be a wee bit too small for certain kinds of kiosks, for such applications the company announced out the bigger 23.6-inch ProLite T2452MTS. Featuring a capacitive touchscreen that's reinforced by durable, scratch-resistant 7H glass, the T2452MTS features a flexible stand that helps orient it in highly ergonomic ways to touch on desks, when not latched onto other surfaces with its VESA wall-mount.

Dell Unveils a Pair of E-Series Entry Level Monitors

Dell unveiled the 21.5-inch E2213H widescreen, and 17-inch E1713S square monitors. The two pack LED-backlit TN-film LCD panels, and a basic feature-set. The E2213H features 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 160° H/V viewing angles, 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and inputs that include DVI and D-Sub. The E1713S, on the other hand, features 1280 x 1024 pixels resolution, most other features remain the same, except it lacks DVI display inputs. The two are priced under $150.

Zalman Reserator Liquid CPU Cooler Detailed

Do most pre-built CPU liquid cooler kits look the same to you? It's probably because they carry Asetek or Akasa design. Enter a refreshment in the pre-built arena: Zalman. The Korean PC cooling veteran unveiled Reserator, a liquid cooler which swaps the conventional-looking radiator for a high-performance heatsink with radially-projecting copper fins, in which the heat pipes are swapped with coolant channels. The contraption is ventilated by a 120 mm Zalman custom-design blue or red LED-lit fan, with PWM control. The CPU block features copper base with mirror finish, while its other parts are given aesthetic touches with chrome plating and LEDs. The cooler will be designed to handle thermal loads as high as 400W. It is slated for early-2013.

Iiyama Announces ProLite T2234MC 21.5-inch Multi-Touch Monitor

Iiyama announced the ProLite T2234MC 21.5-inch monitor with multi-touch. Designed primarily for kiosks and public PCs, the monitor features a durable bezel and screen surface, that's compliant with IP54 standard. Helping its kiosk credentials is its IPS panel, which provides 178° horizontal and 178° vertical viewing angles, which lets you tilt the screen 90° without worrying about visibility in all angles, and LED backlit illumination that features low power draw.

The monitor features 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 8 ms response time, 1000:1 static and mega-contrast, 225 cd/m² maximum brightness, and display inputs that include D-Sub (VGA) and DVI. Measuring 517.5 x 219 x 351.5 mm (WxDxH), it weighs about 7.2 kg. Slated for mid-December, and backed by a 3-year warranty, the ProLite T2234MC from Iiyama is priced around 89,800¥ (about US $1100).

Zalman MS800 and MS800 Plus Cases Detailed

Zalman unveiled a pair of ATX mid-tower cases for stylish gaming PC builds. Measuring 207 x 533 x 541 mm (WxDxH), and weighing about 9 kg, the cases are made of steel and ABS plastic. Although packed with room for standard ATX and micro-ATX motherboards with graphics cards as long as 30 cm, the cases come with a support beam, which can be installed in three positions. The beam prevents bending of add-on cards.

Both MS800 and MS800 Plus feature six 5.25" and a common 5.25"/3.5"/2.5" bay, but while the MS800 has three fixed 3.5"/2.5" bays, the MS800 Pro gives them hot-swap capabilities using caddies. Both cases come with two 120 mm fans on top (LED-lit for the MS800 Pro), a 120 mm fan on the rear, a 92 mm fan bracket (MS800 Pro only), and a bottom 120 mm fan vent. Most fan vents are covered with dust filters. The front-panel includes two each of USB 3.0 (standard header), USB 2.0/1.1, HD audio jacks, and a 6-channel fan controller with a rotary knob and channel-selection feather-touch buttons. Slated for December, the MS800 is priced at US $88, and the MS800 Pro at $100.

Iiyama Announces ProLite E2080HSD 20-inch Monitor

Japanese display maker Iiyama announced the ProLite E2080HSD, a 20-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor that promises as much as 36 percent lower power draw compared to other monitors in the market. Under typical usage, the monitor draws 16W, but the EcoMode feature can reduce that draw by a further 15% by tweaking its settings. The monitor embeds a TN-film panel, with a native resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels, 80°/85° H/V viewing angles, 250 cd/m² brightness, 1000:1 static and mega-contrast, 5 ms response time, and display inputs that include DVI and D-Sub. The monitor integrates 2W stereo speakers. Measuring 478.0 x 204.5 x 351.0 mm (WxDxH), it weighs about 3.2 kg. Slated for November 19, it is expected to be priced at 12,800 JPY (US $159.5).

BenQ Announces A Pair of Vertical Alignment Monitors

BenQ announced the 21.5-inch GW2260HM and 27-inch GW2760HM, a pair of LED-backlit LCD monitors with vertical alignment (VA) panels. Both feature 1920 x 1080 pixels native resolution, 178° vertical and 178° horizontal viewing angles, 250 cd/m² brightness, mega-contrast, and 4 ms response time. Both models are no more than 16 mm-thick, and feature DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI display inputs. 2W stereo speakers come standard. The GW2260HM and GW2760HM from BenQ are priced at €189, and €259, respectively.

AOC Releases the d2757Ph 27-inch 3D Monitor

AOC has just announced the European arrival of its latest widescreen monitor, the d2757Ph. This 27-inch model features an IPS panel, LED backlighting, and uses Film-type Patterned Retarder (FPR) technology to allow 3D viewing via polarized glasses (the display's bundle includes a pair of 3D glasses, and 3D clip-on glasses).

AOC's monitor also has a 10.6 mm profile, a slim frame, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5 ms response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (20,000,000:1 DCR), plus one D-Sub and two HDMI inputs. The d2757Ph is backed by a three-year warranty and costs €279.

Dell Intros Energy-Efficient E2013H 20-inch Monitor

Dell introduced the E2013H, an energy-efficient 20-inch LED-backlit LCD monitor. With a standby power draw of less than 0.5W, the monitor draws no more than 14W under typical usage. It features 1600 x 900 pixels resolution, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 170° (H) 160° (V) viewing angles, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, and 5 ms response time. Display inputs include DVI-I and D-Sub. Measuring 163.5 x 478.8 x 366.9 mm, it weighs about 3.4 kg. Its stand allows for basic tilt adjustments. Expect it to be priced around $100.

Philips Announces the Brilliance 231P4QRYES 23-inch Monitor

Philips has now unveiled a new widescreen monitor featuring ErgoSensor technology, the 23-inch 231P4QRYES. Made to 'promote a healthier and productive workplace', the ErgoSensor lowers power consumption (it turns the monitor off when the user is away) and provides feedback on how to sit in an ergonomic position at the PC while also offering time break advice.

ErgoSensor aside, Philips' display has an IPS panel, W-LED backlighting, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 7 ms (GtG) response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio (20,000,000:1 SmartContrast), D-Sub, DVI and DisplayPort inputs, a built-in four-port USB hub, two 1.5 W speakers, and a stand allowing for height, pivot, swivel and tilt adjustment. The 231P4QRYES has a recommended price tag of €249.

X-ES Introduces Intel Core i7 Processor-Based Small Form Factor System

Extreme Engineering Solutions (X-ES) introduces the XPand6104 Small Form Factor (SFF) system supporting a 3rd generation Intel Core i7 COM Express module. With commercial connectors, this SFF system can be utilized as an XPedite7450 COM Express development platform, a deployable SFF system, or a demo platform for applications requiring a high-performance Intel Core i7 processor solution.

In a natural convection-cooled SFF enclosure, the XPand6104 is ideal for Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP)-constrained applications at 2.10 in. (H) x 4.88 in. (W) x 7.70 in. (L) and weighing less than 4 lbs. It includes an XPedite7450 Intel Core i7 ruggedized COM Express module and an optional 1.8 in. SSD. Acer Rolling Out the S275HLbmii 27-Inch Monitor

Acer is currently making the final arrangements for the retail release of a new S Series monitor, the 27-inch S275HLbmii. This model features a slim casing with a Zero Frame design, a glossy black bezel, an asymmetrical stand, an IPS panel with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, LED backlighting, a 6 ms response time, a dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1, and one D-Sub plus two HDMI connectors.

The S275HLbmii is backed by a three-year warranty and can be found (on pre-order) priced at £213.38 (~ $344 / €265).

ASUS Introduces the VX238T and VX238H LCD Monitors

ASUS has today announced the European release of its first VX Series monitors, the 23-inch VX238T and VX238H. Both models come in a sleek and slim (2.1 cm) chassis and feature LED backlighting, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 250 cd/m2 brightness, a dynamic contrast ratio of 80,000,000:1, two built-in 1.5 W speakers, and the Splendid Video Intelligence Technology which optimizes video performance and image fidelity by enhancing color, brightness, contrast, and sharpness.

The VX238T costs €179 and has a 5 ms response time, plus D-Sub and DVI inputs, while the VX238H, which goes for €189, boasts a 1 ms (GtG) response time, and D-Sub and dual HDMI connectors. The displays are backed by a three-year warranty.

Philips Readies its Own 27-inch AMVA Display

Quickly following on AOC's footsteps, Philips is preparing the release of a self-branded 27-inch monitor equipped with an AMVA (Advanced Multi-domain Vertical Alignment) panel, the 271P4QPJKEB/00. Part of the Brilliance P-line, this incoming widescreen has a W-LED backlight, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, 178/178 degree viewing angles, a 6 ms (GtG) response time, 300 cd/m2 brightness, a 5,000:1 contrast ratio (20,000,000:1 DCR), and D-Sub, DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors.

The 271P4QPJKEB/00 also comes with two built-in 2 W speakers, a 3-port USB 2.0 hub, a 2.0-megapixel camera, a 'people sensor' (that lowers brightness when the user is not in front of the display), and a stand allowing for height, pivot, swivel and tilt adjustment. This monitor is available for pre-order priced as low as €400.

Philips Releases the 237E4QHAD/00 MHL-Supporting IPS Monitor

Philips has now made available a new E-line monitor, a 23-inch model dubbed 237E4QHAD/00 which has an IPS (in-plane switching) panel, W-LED backlighting, and MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link) capabilities for easy connections with MHL-enabled mobile devices.

Philips' display comes with a Black Cherry coating and also features a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 7 ms (GtG) response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio (20,000,000:1 DCR), 250 cd/m2 brightness, two 2 W speakers, and D-Sub plus dual HDMI inputs. The 237E4QHAD/00 can be found priced at €182.

LG Announces Q3-2012 Financial Results

LG Electronics (LG) today reported a solid third-quarter performance with the third consecutive quarter of positive net income and all four companies recording strong operating profits. Better-than-expected performance in the mobile and home appliance businesses helped offset a slight decline in overall year-over-year sales for the third quarter.

Third-quarter net profit of KRW 157 billion (USD 138.57 million) with operating profit recording KRW 221 billion (USD 195.06 million) showed significant improvements from the loss in the same period last year. Third-quarter revenues fell 4 percent year-over-year to KRW 12.38 trillion (USD 10.93 billion) due to the continuing decline of feature phone sales and overall weak demand.

World's Largest Gaming Festival Names Samsung as Official Monitor Partner for WCG '12

World Cyber Games (WCG) announced today that Samsung Electronics has been selected as the official monitor partner of the WCG 2012 Grand Final which will be taking place from Nov. 29 to Dec. 2 in Kunshan, China. The Series 7 (S24B750) and Series 3 (S23B370H) monitors will be used by the national team competitors during the WCG 2012 Grand Final tournament.

AeroCool Fall-Winter Collection Available Through Retailers

Over the past month, AeroCool unveiled six new products featured in its mainline and Strike-X brands, including the Strike-X XPredator Devil Red and White Editions, Strike-X Air, and Mechatron Black Edition cases; Silent Master 200 mm fans, and Strike-X X-1000 fan-controller. AeroCool made an addition to the lineup, the Touch-2000 fan controller, and made all products available through retail channels in the US.

The Touch-2000 is a 2-bay fan-controller. It is characterized by a brushed aluminum bezel, and a large LED display, with feather-touch buttons.
