Packard Bell Launches New Widescreen Monitors

Acer-owned PC maker Packard Bell has now officially introduced five entry-level widescreen monitors, the Maestro Series 226DXbmid and 236Dbd and the Viseo Series 223DXbid, 243Dbid and 273Dbi. The 21.5-inch and 23-inch Maestro models feature a 14.5 mm profile, an IPS panel with 178/178-degree viewing angles, an LED backlight, a 5 ms response time, and a dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000,000:1. Both the 226DXbmid and 236Dbd include D-Sub and DVI connectors, with the former also boasting an HDMI input.

The Viseo displays have a 19 mm profile, a piano black finish, a Full HD (1080p) TN panel, a 5 ms response time, and D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectivity.

I-O Data Readies 19-inch Monitor That's Easy on the Eyes

In an effort to provide better ergonomics, I-O Data has developed a new monitor, a 19-inch model called LCD-AD191SE, which has a built-in function to reduce eye strain. That function works by lowering the intensity of the blue light (in five stages) by up to 60%. The display also has an 'Eco guard' that lowers brightness automatically when the user is not present.

Spec wise, the LCD-AD191SE has an LED-backlit TFT panel with a native resolution of 1280 x 1024 pixels, a 5 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, D-Sub and DVI connectors, and two 1 W built-in speakers. I-O Data's monitor has a three-year warranty and is expected to ship at the end of this month.

NEC Introduces New 27-Inch Color Accurate Display Built on GB-R LED Backlight

NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today the latest additions to its award-winning MultiSync PA Series of displays. The 27-inch PA272W color accurate display and PA272W color critical display with SpectraViewII calibration software and sensor come in both white and black cabinets.

The redesigned monitors are built on GB-R LED backlights, which mean that the PA272W provides a wider color gamut and more color control than a conventional white LED backlight, and consumes 37 percent less power than comparable CCFL backlights.

Iiyama Unveils the ProLite X2382HS IPS Monitor

Iiyama Japan has kicked off this week by launching a new ProLite Series monitor, the 23-inch X2382HS. This model features an IPS panel with a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 178/178-degree viewing angles, an LED backlight, a 5 ms (GTG) response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1 (5,000,000:1 DCR), and D-Sub, DVI and HDMI connectors.

The ProLite X2382HS also has two built-in 2 W speakers, and comes with a three-year warranty. Its price tag stands at 23,800 yen which is about 245 USD.

NEC Intros the MultiSync EA193Mi 19-inch Monitor

Iiyama Announces ProLite XB2779QS 27-inch WQHD Monitor

Japanese display maker Iiyama announced ProLite XB2779QS, a stylish new 27-inch WQHD monitor. The monitor features a pseudo-bezel free design, with the piano-black glass screen extending to the edges, with an brushed aluminium bottom accent. Under the hood is an AH-IPS LCD panel, with a native resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, 178-degree viewing angles along both axes, 5 ms response time (GTG), and dynamic mega contrast ratio.

The LED-backlit display has a normal power draw of 55W, which drops by 5.4 percent when Eco Mode 1 is engaged, by 19.3 percent on Eco Mode 2, and by 30.9 percent on Eco Mode 3. Display inputs include dual-link DVI, D-Sub, and HDMI. Measuring 564.5 mm x 230 mm x 434.5 mm (WxDxH), the XB2779QS weighs about 8.2 kg. Its stand offers basic tilt and height adjustments. Slated for late-October, when it will launch in Japan first, it's expected to go for 79,800 JPY (US $800).

LG Launches Two New Ultra-Wide LED Monitors

LG Electronics USA today launched two new "UltraWide" 21:9 aspect ratio* LED monitors designed to offer professional tools for effective multitasking and excellent gaming experience. Models EA73 and LN450W, which will be on sale in late September, also employ LG's advanced In-Plane Switching (IPS) technology and 2560 x 1080 resolution capability* to deliver exceptional picture quality. Iiyama Announces the ProLite XB2483HSU 24-Inch Monitor

Iiyama Japan has today unveiled a new ProLite Series monitor, a 24-inch model known as XB2483HSU. Seen below, the display makes use of an AMVA+ panel with 178/178-degree viewing angles, and features LED backlighting, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a response time of 4 ms (G2G), a contrast ratio of 3,000:1 (dynamic contrast ratio is 5,000,000:1), and VGA, DVI and HDMI connectors.

Dell Captures Top Position in Worldwide PC Monitors in the Second Quarter

Dell moved ahead of Samsung in the worldwide PC monitor market for the first time since 2007, shipping more than 5.0 million units in the second quarter of 2013 (2Q13). Total PC monitor shipments for the quarter were 33.5 million units, which was 1.6 million units more than forecast but still represented a year-over-year decline of -0.7%, according to the International Data Corporation (IDC) Worldwide Quarterly PC Monitor Tracker.

"Dell grew its unit shipments by 12.7% compared to the first quarter of 2013, which vaulted the company into the number one position worldwide. However, Samsung continues to be the worldwide revenue leader, despite its declining shipment numbers," said Jennifer Song, Research Analyst, Worldwide Trackers at IDC. "On a geographic basis, China remained the largest market for PC monitors with 29.2% share, followed by the U.S. with 18.4% share. The number three market, Brazil, trailed by some distance with 4.3% share."

ViewSonic Expands Ergonomic VG39 Enterprise Display Series

I-O Data Announces Six New LCD Monitors

I-O Data today revealed the addition of six new monitors to its product offer. This release wave includes the 23.6-inch LCD-MF243E and LCD-AD242E, the 23-inch LCD-MF235XBR, the 21.5-inch LCD-MF223EB and LCD-AD222E, and the 18.5-inch LCD-AD193E. Coming in both black and white versions (with the exception of the LCD-MF235XBR), these displays feature an LED backlight, a TFT panel (the LCD-AD193E has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, the rest are all 1920 x 1080), a 5 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, and a three-year warranty.

The LCD-AD193E, LCD-MF223E, LCD-MF243E and LCD-MF235XBR also have built-in stereo speakers, while all include VGA and DVI connectivity. HDMI is available on the LCD-MF223E, LCD-MF243E and LCD-MF235XBR.

I-O Data will start rolling out the LCD-MF235XBR, LCD-MF243E and LCD-AD242E at the end of this month, whereas the rest will debut in October.

LG Display Develops World's First Intel WiDi Enabled LCD Panel for Monitors

NEC Display Introduces New 30-Inch Color Accurate MultiSync PA Series Display

NEC Display Solutions of America, a leading provider of commercial LCD display and projector solutions, announced today the 30-inch MultiSync PA302W color accurate display and color critical PA302W display solution with SpectraViewII calibration software and sensor. The models come in both white and black cabinets, which have been redesigned and are now 34 percent slimmer than previous models.

Built using a cutting edge GB-R LED backlight, the PA302W provides a wider color gamut and more color control than a conventional white LED backlight and consumes 44 percent less power than comparable CCFL backlights. Philips Launches 144 Hz Gaming Monitor

Among the myriad of new products presented by Philips at the current IFA event in Berlin, Germany, there's one in particular that will certainly draw the attention of avid gamers everywhere. The Philips Brilliance 242G5DJEB/75 is a 24 Inch, 144Hz refresh rate monitor targeted at the gaming segment, it has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The Full HD monitor makes use of a TN LCD panel and W-LED back-lighting, it has a 5ms response time (1ms Gray to Gray) and a 170º maximum horizontal viewing angle.

EIZO Releases the FlexScan EV2216W 22-Inch Monitor

The FlexScan EV2216W is the latest addition to EIZO's EcoView series of monitors which combines ecological features, visual ergonomics and a five-year warranty for a low total cost of ownership. The FlexScan EV2216W is the first EcoView monitor with a 22-inch screen and 1680 x 1050 native resolution (16:10 aspect ratio).

The brightness dimming methods used with conventional LED-backlit monitors cause some users to see flicker which can result in eye fatigue. The FlexScan EV2216W incorporates an EIZO-developed solution that regulates brightness to make flicker unperceivable without compromising color stability. HP Releases the EliteDisplay E221c IPS Monitor

HP has this week introduced a new 'built-for-business' monitor, the EliteDisplay E221c. This model features a 21.5-inch IPS (in-plane switching) panel, an LED backlight, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 7 ms (gray-to-gray) response time, a dynamic contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1, VGA, DVI and DisplayPort connectors, and a stand allowing for tilt, swivel, pivot and 150 mm height adjustment.

HP's monitor also comes with built-in (rear firing) speakers, a 720p webcam with dual microphones, and a 2-port USB hub. The EliteDisplay E221c has a three-year warranty and costs $219.

MSI AE221/G and AE222/G World's First Windows 8.1 certified All-in-One PCs

Japanese display maker Iiyama rolled out the Pro Lite T2735MSC 27-inch touchscreen monitor. It combines an AMVA (multi-domain vertical alignment) panel made by AU Optronics, with a 10-point multi-touch layer. As a display, the T2735MSC features full-HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution, 2 ms response time, 178°/178° viewing angles, 260 cd/m² maximum brightness, 3000:1 static contrast ratio with dynamic mega-contrast, and display inputs that include DVI, D-Sub, MHL (mobile high-definition link), and HDMI. Its touchscreen component plugs in over USB 2.0. Its stand is designed to be ergonomic, and fit for frequent sliding down to use as touchscreen. Measuring 739 x 127 x 510 mm (WxDxH), it weighs 10.5 kg. Available in Japan soon, the Pro Lite T2735MSC is expected to be priced at 89,800 JPY (US $920).

Samsung to Show Off 31.5-inch Ultra HD Monitor, 98-inch Video Wall at IFA

Samsung is going into IFA 2013 with a gargantuan lineup of displays and consumer electronics, two of which are bound to grab eyeballs by the bunch. The first of the two is a 31.5-inch ultra HD (3840 x 2160 pixels native resolution) PC monitor. Given its only other known specification, it will be geared more toward graphics professionals, than gamers. The display is said to offer 99 percent coverage of Adobe RGB colorspace. The other big (literally) display product on Samsung's booth will be a huge 98-inch video-wall, which is also ultra HD-capable. Video walls make for good commercial boards.
