AOC Intros New 50-Series Desktop Monitors

AOC introduced a pair of new 50-series desktop monitors, the 21.5-inch e2250Swdn, and 24-inch e2450Swd. The two are LED-backlit LCD monitors, and its makers maintain that these draw up to 50 percent less power than CCFL-lit monitors. Both models feature 1920x1080 pixels resolution, 5 ms response time, and 20,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and inputs that include DVI-D (HDCP), and D-sub (VGA). Both models feature 15 mm slim profile. The e2250Swdn is priced at US $149.99, while the e2450Swd goes for $179.99.

Acer Announces New G Series Monitors

Acer announced a pair of G Series 21.5-inch LED-backlit LCD monitors, the G225HQLAbmid and G225HQLAbd. Both monitors pack a glossy TN-film panel, with 1920x1080 pixels resolution, 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 1000:1 static contrast ratio. The monitors feature Acer Crystal Brite technology, and up to 100 million colors reproduction. The Eco Mode feature works to conserve power. Where the two models differ is inputs and speakers. While the G225HQLAbmid features HDMI, DVI-D (HDCP), D-Sub, and built-in 2W stereo speakers; the G225HQLAbd lacks HDMI and built-in speakers. Both will be released to market towards the end of May.

Mitsubishi Intros New DiamonCrysta Wide Series IPS LED Monitors

Mitsubishi Electric Japan, launched a duo of 23-inch widescreen LED-backlit LCD monitors under its DiamondCrysta Wide series, the RDT234WX and RDT234WX-S. The two differ with the RDT234WX having an anti-glare matte coating, while the RDT234WX-S lacks it. The monitors are backed by IPS panels the provide richer color reproduction, with 1920x1080 pixels resolution, and response time as low as 3.5 ms, if its Overdrive feature is enabled. Both monitors provide 1000:1 contrast ratio (8000:1 DCR), 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and display inputs that include two HDMI, one DVI, and a D-Sub. 545 x 170 x 394 mm (WxDxH), these monitors weigh around 4.9 kg. Other features include 2+2W stereo speakers and TV tuning (optional). The RDT234WX is slated for May 16, and the RDT234WX-S for June 15.

I-O Data Also Intros A Trio of Anti-Glare HD Monitors

In addition to the LCD-MF242E, I-O Data unveiled the LCD-MF234XPBR, LCD-MF234XBR, and LCD-MF224XBR. These monitors are cousins of the LCD-MF234XPGBR launched in February, except that they feature anti-glare (matte) screens. The LCD-MF234XPBR packs a 23-inch anti-glare IPS panel, with 1920x1080 pixels resolution, response time as low as 8 ms (with Overdrive), 80,000:1 DCR and 1,000 static contrast ratio, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 178 degree viewing angles. It measures 546 x 174 x 409 mm (WxDxH). Its price is estimated to be around 21,800 JPY (US $260.4).

The LCD-MF234XBR also packs a 23-inch panel, albeit TN-film. It has the same exact dimensions as the LCD-MF234XPBR, and the same 1920x1080 pixels resolution; but with panel specifications of response time as low as 2 ms (5 ms typical), and 170/160 degree viewing angles. The contrast ratios and maximum brightness are identical to those of the LCD-MF234XPBR. This screen goes for an estimated 19,800 JPY (US $236.5). Then there's the LCD-MF224XBR, which is a 21.5-incher, otherwise with the same exact specifications as the LCD-MF234XBR. It measures 511 x 164 x 371 mm, and costs an estimated 17,800 JPY (US $212.6). All three models feature dual-HDMI, DVI, and D-sub inputs; and 3W stereo speakers.

Princeton Intros Two New Widescreen Monitors

Japanese company Princeton Technology introduced two value widescreen monitors, the 21.5-inch PTFBYF-22W, and the 19-inch PTFBCF-19W. Both monitors are LED backlit, an an anti-glare panel. The PTFBYF-22W measures 505.6 x 365.7 x 179.8 mm (WxDxH), and provides a native resolution of 1920x1080 with 160° horizontal/vertical viewing angles. Other panel specifications include 1,000:1 contrast ratio (100,000:1 DCR), 250 cd/m² brightness, and 5 ms response time. Inputs include HDMI, DVI, and D-sub.

The PTFBCF-19W, on the other hand, measures 444 x 359 x 174 mm, and feature features 1440x900 resolution, 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and 20,000,000:1 DCR; 250 cd/m² brightness, and 5 ms response time. Its inputs include DVI and D-Sub. The PTFBYF-22W is priced at 17,800 JPY (US $218.3), and the PTFBCF-19W at 15,800 JPY (US $193).

Samsung Rolls Out the TB750 Series 7 TV Monitors

Samsung Electronics has today launched its 24-inch and 27-inch TB750 Series 7 HDTV monitors announced at CES 2012 in January. These two displays feature a sleek asymmetric design, a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a 5 ms response time, a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, 300 cd/m2 brightness, stereo speakers, a HDMI input, and both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports.

The TB750 duo also comes with Intel WiDi (Wireless Display) and MHL (Mobile High-definition Link) support, and provides access to the Samsung Smart Hub for easy access to apps and web-based entertainment.

The 24-inch and 27-inch Series 7 TV monitors are selling in South Korea for $434 and $612, respectively.

I-O Data Unveils New 20, 21.5-inch Monitors

I-O Data unveiled the 20-inch LCD-AD202X, and 21.5-inch LCD-MF222E series of desktop monitors (pictured in that order, below). Both screens have 16:9 aspect ration, and feature native resolutions of 1600 x 900 and 1920 x 1080, respectively. Both monitors target mainstream market-segments, and use conventional TN-film panel with LED backlighting. The LCD-MF222E, apart from its full-HD resolution, features 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio (5,000,000:1 DCR), and 5 ms response time. This screen takes input from HDMI, DVI, and D-Sub. The screen also packs 2W stereo speakers.

The LCD-AD202X, apart from its 1600 x 900 resolution, packs similar panel specifications, including 1,000:1 contrast ratio, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and 5 ms response time. Both monitors are available in two color options, white and black. The LCD-AD202X is priced at 15,800 JPY (US $201), and the LCD-MF222E at 18,800 JPY (US $239).

Samsung Announces Series 7 Smart Station And 1080p Monitors

Samsung Electronics America Inc., a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Corporation, today introduced the next evolution of its award-winning Central Station, the Series 7 Samsung Smart Station, as well as a redesigned Series 7 HDTV monitor for a whole-home solution. Part HD monitor, part wireless docking station, the second generation Series 7 Smart Station (CB750) builds upon the successes of its predecessor and now integrates with mobile devices in addition to notebook PCs, peripherals, network and AV, providing users with a simple and convenient way to increase productivity.

The new Series 7 HDTV monitor (TB750) includes HDTV functionality with a built-in TV tuner and integrated wireless display (WiDi) technology from Intel for added connectivity to the TB750 as well as integrations with mobile devices like smartphones and tablets for added versatility. The Series 7 Smart Station, available in 24- and 27-inch configurations, and the Series 7 HDTV monitor, available in 24- and 27-inch configurations, will be available on display during the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas at Central Hall booth #12004, January 10-13.

HP Unveils Its First 27-inch All-in-One PC, Performance Desktop, New Monitors

HP today unveiled new consumer PCs and commercial displays that offer consumers and professionals superb design, performance and convenience. Launched in advance of the 2012 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the new lineup includes:

LG Unveils DM92, DM82 and DM52 Series 3D-Optimized IPS Monitors

LG Electronics (LG) will unveil its 2012 IPS monitor line-up at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next month. LG's new IPS monitors will provide consumers with the most optimal 3D viewing solution, offering immersive 3D viewing with higher resolutions from wider viewing angles. The new IPS monitors are divided into the DM92, DM82 and DM52 series, in addition to the D43 3D monitor.

"The quality and technological superiority of LG's 3D display products are second to none, according to the findings of internationally renowned research organizations and respected media outlets," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company. Acer Intros New 23-inch Ultra-Slim Monitors in Japan

Acer introduced two new ultra-slim LED-backlit LCD monitors in Japan, both sized 23-inch. These include the S235HLBii and S230HLCii (pictured below in that order). The S235HLbii sports a swanky sharp-edged design with a smart base (that which holds the connections), while the S230HLCii features a more conventional design. Another major difference between the two is that while the former is HDCP-capable and features as many as two HDMI inputs, the latter, quite shockingly, lacks digital inputs - even DVI at that - and only features a D-Sub analog input. Those aside, both monitors sport 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, 5 ms response time, 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, 1,000:1 static contrast ratio, and viewing angles of 170/160 degrees. The pricing of the two remains unclear.

AOC Intros Two New Monitors for Small Businesses

AOC unveiled two new monitors for small businesses, the 22-inch e2219Ph, and 24-inch e2436Pa. The two feature WLED-backlit LCD panels, with 20,000,000:1 DCR, 1000:1 static contrast ratio, 5 ms response time, and power consumption of around 30W. While the e2219Ph features 1680x1050 pixel resolution, the e2436Pa ups it to 1920x1080. Both take inputs from DVI and D-Sub, the e2436Pa includes HDMI as well. Slated for mid-November, the e2219Ph and e2436Pa are priced at €169 and €189, respectively.

EIZO Helps Businesses Go Green with LED-Backlit 23-inch Monitors

Eizo Nanao Corporation today introduced two 23-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 native resolution) monitors for trading rooms, back offices, and other business environments, the FlexScan EV2335W and FlexScan EV2315W. These models are the latest in EIZO's "EcoView" line of ecological, ergonomic and energy-efficient monitors. They both feature white LED backlights which are mercury free and reduce power consumption to just 16 watts during typical use.

LG to Unveil Savvy New Monitors That Redefine Design and Function

LG Electronics (LG) will be taking the wraps off its new high-end monitors - the ultra-slim, vivid picture-quality E91 and D237IPS - at IFA 2011 in Berlin, Germany. The E91's 7.2 mm depth and luxurious acryl finish are sure to make it a hit with style savvy consumers while the D237IPS boosts LG's market-leading Film Pattern Retarder (FPR) 3D display technology on IPS panels, for even clearer, brighter 3D images.

iiyama Intros ProLite VA full-HD Monitors

Japanese display technology major iiyama a couple of new ProLite full-HD LED-backlit LCD monitors, the 24-inch XB2472HD-B, and the 27-inch X2775HDS-B. The two use vertical alignment (VA) panel technology, that enables good viewing angles both horizontally and vertically (i.e. when the panel is oriented in landscape and portrait modes), with viewing angles of 178°. The two boast of 5 million to 1 dynamic contrast, and 1,000:1 static contrast ratios. The XB2472HD-B features a stand which has a telescopic arm, that allows easy height adjustment, to make room for the panel to rotate into portrait mode. The X2775HDS-B features a 4-port USB 2.0 hub. Both models take display input from DVI and HDMI.

CTL Intros Trio of Full-HD LED-backlit Monitors

CTL, known for its 2goPC affordable convertible tablet-PCs, released as many as three new ultra-slim LED-baclit LCD monitors. These include the 21.5-inch LP2151, the 23.6-inch LP2361 and the 27-inch LP2701. All three feature a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 (full-HD), a response time of 2 ms, contrast ratios of 1,000:1 static and 5,000,000:1 dynamic; and maximum brightness of 300 cd/m². All three feature display inputs of D-Sub, DVI, and HDMI; and pack stereo speakers. Backed by 3-year warranties, the The LP2151, LP2361 and LP2701 are priced at $216 , $258 and $330, respectively.

ViewSonic Intros New Budget LED Monitors

Display major ViewSonic announced three new monitors in Europe, the 19" VA1948m-LED, 21.5" VA2248-LED and 23.6" VA2448-LED. The VA1948m-LED features 16:10 aspect ratio, with native resolution of 1440x900 pixels; while the VA2248-LED and VA2448-LED are 16:9 full-HD monitors (1920x1080 pixels native resolution). All three feature LED-backlit panels with dynamic contrast ratios of 10,000,000:1, and 5 ms GTG response time. Available now, the VA1948m-LED, VA2248-LED, and VA2448-LED are priced at €119, €145, and €179.

The Acer B243HLCOymdr is a 24-inch model, while the B273HLOymidh is the 27-inch part. Both displays feature full-HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and 100 million to 1 dynamic contrast ratio, providing a "zero bright dot guarantee". With 8 ms response time, the B243HLCOymdr is the snappier among the two, it features 250 cd/m² maximum brightness, and display inputs that include DVI and D-Sub; while the B273HLOymidh has 10 ms response time, 300 cd/m² brightness, and features HDMI input apart from D-Sub and DVI. The stands of both monitors allow rotating, tilting, height adjustment; the 24-inch model even allows pivoting. The Acer B243HLCOymdr and B273HLOymidh are priced at €249 and €399, respectively.

Sony Intros 17-inch and 24-inch Trimaster EL OLED Monitors

Sony launched 17-inch and 24-inch Trimaster EL professional-grade monitors, which are based on the organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology. OLED is not to be confused with LED-backlit LCD, which is merely LCD with LED illumination instead of CCFL. OLED is a kind of a flat-panel display technology in which electroluminescent organic compounds spread across a film generate images. Hence, OLED provides far greater picture clarity, and eliminates pixellation, a problem encountered with low pixel-density LCD displays. OLED-generated images are more CRT-like in terms of fidelity. Sony's new Trimaster OLED monitors are targeted at the broadcasting industry and professional studios that seek bleeding-edge image quality.

Both Trimaster OLED monitors feature resolutions of 1920 x 1080 (full-HD), with 10-bit drivers, 100 cd/m² brightness, and 178° viewing angles. LG Introduces 23-inch 240 Hz IPS LCD Panel for Monitors

LG Display, a leading innovator of TFT-LCD technology, announced today that it has launched the 23-inch 240Hz LCD for monitors (dual monitor and TV use) that refreshes at a rate of 240 frames per second to deliver clear picture quality with no ghosting effect.

The industry have been engaged in a heated race to improve the motion picture response time (MPRT), unveiling products with refresh rates of 120Hz or 240Hz which are respectively twice and four times as fast as broadcast signals (60Hz). However, the technology has mostly been applied to LCD panels for high-end TV panels that are 40-inch or larger. This is the first time that 240Hz technology was applied in a 23-inch product under mass production.

ASUS Intros Trio of 27-inch Full-HD Monitors

ASUS announced a trio of full-HD (1920 x 1080 resolution) 27-inch monitors. The VK278Q and VE278Q have LED-backlit illumination with dynamic contrast ratio (DCR) of 10,000,000:1, and the third model, VE276Q, with common CCFL illumination with 100,000 DCR. The VK278Q features a 2 megapixel webcam. All three models give you 2 ms response time GTG, 3W stereo speakers. The VK278Q and VE278Q, and VE276Q are priced at €359, €339, and €329, respectively.
