TechPowerUp's resident GPU reviewer extraordinaire—W1zzard—has grappled with a handful of custom design AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE 16 GB models. Team Red and its board partners are pushing a proper/widespread Western release of the formerly China market-exclusive "Golden Rabbit Edition" GPU. TPU's initial review selection of three Sapphire cards and a lone ASRock Steel Legend OC variant garnered two Editor's Choice Awards, and two Highly Recommended badges. Sapphire's Radeon RX 7900 GRE Nitro+ was also honored with a "...But Expensive" tag, due to its MSRP of $600—the premium tier design was one of last year's launch day models in China. Western reviewers have latched onto a notable GRE overclocking limitation—all of TPU's review samples were found to have "overclocking artificially limited by AMD." Steve Walton of Hardware Unboxed has investigated whether the GRE's inherent heavily limited power specification was less of an issue on Sapphire's Nitro+ variant—check out his "re-re-review" video below.

The higher board power design—305 W OC TGP limit and 351 W total board power—is expected to exhibit "up to 10% higher performance than Radeon RX 7800 XT" according to VideoCardz, but falls short. TPU's W1zzard found the GRE Nitro+ card's maximum configurable clock of 2803 MHz: "Overclocking worked quite well on our card, we gained over 8% in real-life performance, which is well above what we usually see, but less than other GRE cards tested today. Sapphire's factory OC eats into OC potential, and maximizes performance out of the box instead. Unfortunately AMD restricted overclocking on their card quite a lot, probably to protect sales of the RX 7900 XT. While NVIDIA doesn't have any artificial limitations for overclockers, AMD keeps limiting the slider lengths for many models, this is not a gamer-friendly approach. For the GRE, both GPU and memory overclocking could definitely go higher based on the results that we've seen in our reviews today." An AMD representative has contacted Hardware Unboxed, in reaction to yesterday's Update review—the GRE's overclocking limitation is a "bug," and a fix is in the works. This situation is a bit odd, given that the Golden Rabbit Edition is not a brand-new product.

The enormous waste heat of the new graphics card generation is excellently dissipated with these coolers. The very good water flow and the large cooling surface are due to the particularly filigree fin structure. The jet plate with revised inflow engine also distributes the water perfectly on the cooling fins. The complete chrome plating of the cooler not only provides resistant protection against acids, scratches and damage, but also achieves a beautiful homogeneity and remarkable shine. Courtesy of VideoCardz, we now know what Gigabyte's and Sapphire's upcoming Radeon RX 7900-series cards will look like. Gigabyte will offer at least two different custom designed models, with the Aorus Elite being the higher-end one and the Gaming OC being the mainstream one. Both appear to come in RX 7900 XTX and RX 7900 XT SKUs. The Aorus Elite is said to be a 3.5-slot card sporting three 8-pin power connectors, whereas the Gaming OC is a 2.5-slot card with two 8-pin power connectors.

The Sapphire card in question is the Nitro+ which has been given a design overhaul compared to the Radeon RX 6000-series cards and it's quite a bright card thanks to its silver coloured shroud. We're once again looking at a massive cooler here, which is wider than three slots, but maybe not quite 3.5-slots wide. Unsurprisingly, Sapphire has kitted out the card with three 8-pin power connectors. None of the three cards have a USB-C port and it appears that those looking to get an AMD Radeon RX 7900-series card with a USB-C port, would have to go for the reference design cards.

Based on a pair of screenshots posted on Twitter by leaker @momomo_us, it appears that AMD's refreshed graphics cards aren't that far away, as Italian retailer Breakpoint has listed several Radeon RX 6x50XT cards on its website, alongside pricing. The cards in question are all from Sapphire and consist of Toxic, Nitro+ and Pulse cards. The listings have already been removed, but it might not matter too much, as the pricing isn't exactly affordable. For example, the Toxic RX 6950 XT LE Gaming OC was listed for €3,133.83, although that does include an AIO cooler.

The Nitro+ RX 6950XT model was listed at over €3,000, whereas the Nitro+ RX 6750XT was listed at over €1,400, or around €200 more than an RX 6800. The Nitro+ version of the RX 6650XT was listed north of €850, but even the two Pulse versions of the RX 6750XT and RX 6650XT are in the same crazy ballpark. Even the upcoming entry level RX 6400 model is listed at over €360 and you'd have to be mad to pay that kind of money for such a basic card. These prices are simply pure nonsense and should not be taken as an indicator of what these upcoming cards will cost. AMD is said to be launching the refreshed cards on the 10th of May, but the company might make an announcement later this month, where it will reveal the specs.

The Alphacool Eisblock Aurora GPX for AMD Radeon RX 6800 Nitro+ and NVIDIA RTX 3080/3090 XC3 Ultra Gaming graphics cards is a complete redevelopment of the previous Alphacool graphics card water coolers. No technical compromises were made, but the entire technical know-how flowed into the development and implementation.

The water flow inside the cooler has also been optimized. All important components such as the voltage transformers and the memory are now significantly better and more effectively cooled by the water. All this ensures a significant increase in cooling performance. The design is also new! The Eisblock Aurora GPX-A RX 6800 Nitro+ cooler has been designed so that lighting is more important than the previous models. The addressable digital RGB LEDs are embedded directly into the cooling block and run along the entire cooling block. The effect is an illumination of the entire cooling block. The aRGB LEDs used here give the cooler its very own visual touch.

Alphacool presents the Eisblock Aurora Acryl GPX-A block for the Radeon MSI RX 6800/6800 XT Gaming X Trio and the Radeon Sapphire RX 6800XT Nitro+ graphics cards. The blocks offer outstanding cooling performance thanks to the full cover design. The new backplate, which is included with the coolers, also contributes to this. This stabilizes the graphics card and ensures an even contact pressure of the cooler. The cold plates are made of solid nickel-plated copper. The coolers cover all relevant components such as voltage converters and the graphics memory.

Sapphire's upcoming take on AMD's RX 5500 XT graphics card has been spotted up for preorder on Amazon (availability set for December 12th), and it's a special one. Besides the usual Nitro+ edition, Sapphire will also be launching a fully customized RX 5500 XT Nitro+ Special Edition. Besides addressable ARGB fans, the card features what can be called a very interesting, reduced PCB design, with the shroud and backplate artificially adding length to the graphics cards so as to increase space for the dual fan cooling solution.

Alphacool today unveiled the Eisblock Aurora Plexi GPX-A line of full-coverage water blocks for a range of custom-design AMD Radeon RX 5700 series graphics cards. The lineup includes a model for the Sapphire RX 5700 XT Nitro+, one for the PowerColor Red Devil and Red Dragon models of RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT, and one for the MSI RX 5700 XT Gaming X. The common element between the three is a combination of nickel-plated copper primary material, mated with a clear acrylic top. The three weigh roughly 1.2 kg, and feature mount hole spacing aligning with PCBs from the three brands. Available now, the blocks cost 109.94€ a piece.

The Sapphire-specific model is compatible only with the RX 5700 XT Nitro+, and measures 260 mm x 141 mm x 23 mm (LxHxW). The PowerColor-specific model, which supports the common PCB PowerColor uses across its Red Devil and Red Dragon models based on the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT, measures 238 mm x 143 mm x 23 mm. The MSI-specific model is the longest among the three, measuring 293 mm x 139.3 mm x 22.5 mm, supporting the RX 5700 XT Gaming X. All three support standard G 1/4" fittings.

Sapphire China has let out a partial teaser of their upcoming RX 5700 XT NITRO graphics card, which is nearing release and has apparently been finalized. The design shows a slightly longer graphics card than we're used to from Sapphire in recent generation (based on 8-pin port placement and component ratio in the provided image).

The card will seemingly sport a silver-based finish (and what looks like black details in the fan area), and features an RGB "SAPPHIRE" detail on the side, as well as what looks like an RGB strip alongside the PCB. From the image, it seems Sapphire will be using a triple fan cooling solution on this one. Being set in the NITRO series, it's currently unknown if this will be a NITRO or NITRO+ product.

Yes, we know that AMD's graphics division anniversary really isn't on its 50th year - ATI's acquisition, the true spirit behind AMD's graphics prowess, occurred back in 2006. However, that doesn't mean AMD's graphics aren't deserving of special commemorative editions. Sapphire have taken it upon themselves to celebrate the occasion with a gold-colored RX 590 graphics card.

The leak came over from one of my own homecountry's webshops, with a full product page that has since been taken down. There is no difference between this card and the usual blue RX 590 Nitro+ - the devil is in the color, so to say. Reference clocks remain the same at 1560 MHz core, and the cooling solution is the same. In Portuguese prices, the pricing difference seems to amount to some extra €25 for the limited edition graphics card. Whether the pricing difference is enough to warrant the additional investment should go according to your own mileage.

Sapphire debuted its Radeon RX 590 series last month with the RX 590 Nitro+ Special Edition, which at the time was advertised as a limited-edition SKU. The company over Holiday weekend updated its product stack to introduce a new mass-production SKU, the RX 590 Nitro+ OC, minus "Special Edition" branding. There are only cosmetic changes between the two SKUs. Sapphire's favorite shade of blue on the Special Edition SKU makes way for matte-black on the cooler shroud, as do the black accents on the back-plate, instead of blue. The fan impellers are opaque matte black instead of frosty and translucent.

Thankfully, Sapphire hasn't changed the specs that matter - factory-overclock. The card still ships with 1560 MHz engine clocks (boost), and 8.40 GHz (GDDR5-effective) memory, and a "quiet" second BIOS that dials down the clocks to 1545 MHz boost and 8.00 GHz memory. The underlying PCB is unchanged, too, drawing power from a combination of 8-pin and 6-pin PCIe power connectors, and conditioning it with a 6+1 phase VRM. Display outputs include two each of DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0, and a dual-link DVI-D. The company didn't reveal pricing, although we expect it to be marginally lower than the Special Edition SKU.

Sapphire took to CES 2018 to showcase one of the most elusive products in recent times: a custom variant of AMD's RX Vega graphics cards. Sapphire went to great lengths to keep the entire affair under as many wraps as possible, even going so far as to book an entire room to showcase their RX Vega Nitro+, laying still, like a mirage, on top of its anti-static plastic wrap.

There's something eerily beautiful about this graphics card: not on its exquisite back and faceplate designs alone, nor on the custom Sapphire-cut exhaust port; it's really for the condition of a somewhat "unicorn" type of product. Some people believe they're out there, but sightings in their natural environment (read, correct MSRP) are so rare that they are brought up as mass deliriums. The most interesting tech product on CES 2018 based on this story alone, surely.

After aeons of waiting, one of AMD's foremost AIB partners, Sapphire, has come out with a fully custom edition of AMD's RX Vega flagship graphics cards. The new RX Vega 64 Nitro+ and RX Vega56 Nitro+ graphics cards bring Sapphire's engineering to the RX Vega table, offering much better thermal, acoustic, and performance characteristics than AMD's air-based reference models.

The Sapphire RX Vega Nitro+ series of graphics cards feature a triple-fan, 2.5 slot design and a whopping 3x 8-pin power delivery system - and yes, you read that right, this applies to both the Vega 64 and Vega 56 models. The increased thermal headroom provided by the substantial cooling solution, and the beefed-up power delivery system, mean Sapphire are shipping these graphics cards with a hefty 12-14% base-clock increase over AMD's reference models, making these the fastest (in frequency) factory-overclocked RX Vega graphics cards money can buy. The cards also ship with dual-BIOS, a fan header for either a side-panel or front-panel fan whose speed you want to be under the graphics' card control, and a VGA support plate - a smart move by Sapphire, considering the RX Vega 64 Nitro+ comes in at almost 1.6 kg.
