PNY Debuts Liquid Cooled Graphics at E3

Asetek Readies, Demonstrates Water Cooling Solution for GTX 580

Water-cooling solution brand Asetek, which is popular with the OEMs, demonstrated a prototype GPU water-cooling solution for the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580. The prototype uses an off-the-shelf GTX 580 card branded by PNY (doesn't necessarily mean that Asetek is designing this for PNY). The cooler could be to be a pre-assembled GPU water block loop that replaces the aluminum channel heatsink in the reference NVIDIA cooler. The NVIDIA reference blower is retained to cool other components such as memory and VRM, probably at low speeds.

Asetek put its GTX 580 prototype to test, by overclocking the PNY GTX 580 Enthusiast Edition to 995 MHz core, 1846 MHz CUDA cores, and 1100 MHz (4.40 GHz effective) memory. At these speeds, the GPU was able to score 1285 points at average framerate of 51 FPS in Unigine Heaven 2.0 benchmark. Watch the video embedded after the break for details.

PNY GeForce GTX 550 Ti Listed in Europe

One of the first partner-branded NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti graphics cards surfaced, listed on a European online store, priced at a little over €159. It is carrying PNY's part number GMGX55TN2H1IZPB, and doesn't carry the XLR8 branding. Based on the 40 nm GF116 silicon, the PNY GeForce GTX 550 Ti packs 192 CUDA cores, and clock speeds of 900/1800/1025 MHz (core/CUDA cores/memory actual). It packs 1 GB of GDDR5 memory across a 128-bit wide memory interface. €159 does look like a steep price, but there's a lot of uncertainity surrounding it.

GPU-Powered Science and Innovation Drive GPU Technology Conference 2011

NVIDIA today announced that the third annual GPU Technology Conference (GTC) will return to San Jose's McEnery Convention Center from Oct. 11-14, 2011. In addition, Los Alamos National Laboratory will co-locate its Accelerated High Performance Computing (HPC) Symposium at the conference.

Last year's GTC offered more than 280 hours of content intended primarily for computational scientists, engineers and developers who want to better understand how the GPU is transforming scientific, visual and technical computing. Attendance at the 2010 event grew more than 50 percent, and further growth is anticipated this year. PNY Releases Quadro FX 4800 and Quadro FX 5800 Professional Graphics Accelerators

PNY Technologies today announced the availability of two high-end professional graphics accelerators based on the NVIDIA Quadro FX 5800 and Quadro FX 4800 GPUs. The two are based on the GT200 architecture. The Quadro FX 5800 features 240 shader units (dubbed CUDA programmable parallel cores) and 4 GB of GDDR3 memory, while the FX 4800 features 192 shader cores with 1.5 GB of GDDR3 memory.

GeForce 9800 GX2 Goes on Sale

NVIDIA's upcoming GeForce 9800 GX2 graphics card is now available to pre-order from shopblt.com, for a price of $598.41. Although the release date is still unconfirmed, the site has an estimated time of arrival as 03-22-2008, which could well be the official launch day. The actual card being listed is from PNY Technologies, although no extra details are given.

PNY Shows off 32GB SDHC Cards

PNY has upped the ante with new 32GB SDHC cards announced during the PMA show in Las Vegas which started today. The company plans to offer these very high capacity cards in SDHC, USB Drive and Compact Flash formats. The cards should be available sometime in the second quarter of this year. Prices for each format have not been finalized yet.

PNY Signs License Agreement with SanDisk to Settle Patent Litigation

SanDisk Corp said it signed a patent cross-license agreement with PNY Technologies to settle patent cases it filed against PNY last year in Federal District Court and the International Trade Commission, regarding flash memory products. Under the terms of the cross-license, PNY will pay SanDisk royalties on flash memory products that were not previously licensed. The agreement allows PNY to continue marketing and selling USB drives and CompactFlash cards, now as SanDisk licensed products. Other specific terms of the cross-license are confidential.

PNY Announces NVIDIA 8800 Ultra and 8800 Ultra Overclocked Graphics Cards

Today PNY announced the availability of their branded NVIDIA 8800 Ultra Standard and 8800 Ultra Overclocked graphics cards. The PNY cards share all the same features with the other 8800 Ultra graphics cards currently on the market. The stock PNY 8800 Ultra will be clocked at 612MHz on the core, 1500MHz on the shader clock, and 2.16GHz on the memory. PNY has set pricing for the standard 8800 Ultra at $799.99. The overclocked version of the PNY 8800 Ultra will carry a core clock of 648MHz, shader clock of 1512MHz, and a memory clock of 2.24GHz. The overclocked card will be available in June with a MSRP of $849.99. That price should make the PNY card one of the lowest cost overclocked 8800 Ultra cards on the market. Both cards will come with three year warranty (plus an additional 2 years upon completion of a registration form on PNY's website).

PNY Announces GeForce 8600 GTS

With ASUS officially announcing that it's set to release a card based on NVIDIA's GeForce 8600 a couple of days ago, PNY has followed this by revealing that it is about to do the same. Unfortunately though, there are not as many details about PNY's card as there were about ASUS's, other than that it will be an 8600GTS with 256MB of GDDR3 memory. Possibly more interestingly though, PNY has also let slip that the 8600 itself will be launched tomorrow - the company confirmed that its card will go on sale in PC World stores in the UK on April 17th, whilst also commenting that "graphics card will be immediately available to consumers from the date of launch of the product by NVIDIA," essentially confirming that NVIDIA is launching the new GPU tomorrow (as previously rumoured). This will be the first of the mid-range DirectX 10 cards to be released to consumers.
