Silicon Power Unveils 7-in-1 Docking Storage Station

With all of today's mobile devices and peripherals available to users, it's faster than ever to run out of slots on a laptop. And, with newer laptops, a lot of those slots are hard to come by. Silicon Power (SP) is releasing the SU20, a 7-in-1 docking station, to give users the ability to expand their laptop connections with a plethora of options.

This complete solution gives Type-C laptops, notebooks, and tablets access to ports that have been eliminated on newer models. Connect to 1 HDMI port, 3 USB Type-A ports, 1 USB-C PD port, 1 SD card reader, and 1 microSD card reader all from a single Type-C input. The Type-C input supports passthrough charging to power your device without needing to sacrifice power for port expansion. Up to 5 Gbps of bandwidth via its 3 USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports, plus 1 USB-C PD port (max. 60 W), yields quick data transfers between your device and peripherals.

Moshi Announces Symbus Mini Portable USB-C Hub

Moshi today launched the latest addition to its award-winning series of powerful, compact USB-C hubs. Joining the Symbus and Symbus Q desktop hubs, Symbus Mini brings powerful portable connectivity to the collection.

With modern laptops thinner than they've ever been, a key factor in reducing device thickness has been the implementation of USB-C ports to replace everything from video output to wired networking and charging. Although laptops less than an inch thick are undoubtedly better for portability, the lack of desktop-like connectivity could leave you hunched over your laptop for extended periods with limited connectivity and charging, which is good for neither productivity nor well-being.

Integral Has Done It Again, Announces World-First 512 GB MicroSD Card

Integral has done it again as they did before in the 256 GB MicroSD card release: their new, announced 512 GB MicroSD will officially be the biggest (and first) of its kind in the tech world when it comes around to retail shelves next February. Integral is a company that specializes in memory products, and already has 2 TB M.2 SSD releases under its belt as well. And it will also be the smallest-ever 512 GB storage card medium.

Now, I understand that MicroSD cards aren't exactly what we here at TPU boot our website to look at; however, I take this opportunity to just invite our readers to stare in awe at how far ahead we've come since the time of 3½-inch floppy disks. The previous biggest MicroSD card record-holder was Sandisk, with their 400 GB offering; and still is the fastest of the high-capacity MicroSD cards at 100 MB/s. However, Integral's MicroSD is no slouch either, still managing to deliver 80 MB/s max speeds, with a minimum 10 MB/s writes guaranteed (it's classified as an SDXC UHS-I U1 card, and meets the V10 standard for video transfer rates, so it's designed to capture full HD video off cameras). Expect this tiny MicroSD to deliver quite the blow to your monthly earnings should you be looking to buy it come February, though. And I do hope you never lose it.

SanDisk Announces a 400GB microSDXC Card

Western Digital Corporation, a global data storage technology and solutions leader, today announced its 400 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC UHS-I card, the world's highest-capacity microSD card for use in mobile devices. Two years after introducing its record-breaking 200 GB SanDisk Ultra microSDXC card, Western Digital has doubled the capacity within the same tiny form factor. Keeping up with the demands of today's mobile-centric lifestyle, the new SanDisk microSD card provides consumers with the freedom to capture, save and share photos, videos and apps, and enjoy offline content - all without worrying about storage limitations.

"Mobile devices have become the epicenter of our lives, and consumers are now accustomed to using their smartphones for anything from entertainment to business. We are collecting and sharing massive amounts of data on smartphones, drones, tablets, PCs, laptops and more. We anticipate that storage needs will only continue to grow as people continue to expect more sophisticated features on their devices and desire higher quality content," Jeff Janukowicz, research vice president, IDC. "We estimate mobile device users worldwide will install over 150 billion applications alone this year, which require a ton of memory on all of our favorite devices."

ADATA Implements SD A1 and V10/V30 Standards on Premier and Premier Pro Cards

ADATA Technology, a leading manufacturer of highperformance DRAM modules, NAND Flash products, and mobile accessories today confirmed that its Premier microSDXC/microSDHC UHS-I Class 10 cards now support the new SD Association A1 standard. Part of SD 5.1 specifications, A1 has been designed for running apps off external storage, going beyond traditional SD card uses such as accessing photos and video. At the same time, ADATA has also implemented V10 and V30 video recording capabilities on all of its Premier Pro microSD and SD cards, denoting at least 10MB/s and 30MB/s of video recording bandwidth, respectively.

An evolution long promoted by the SD Association, the A1 specification is part of SD 5.1 requirements. It shows that a microSD or SD card can support sufficiently high read speeds and IOPS counts to successfully run most apps without latency being an issue. In other words, A1 certified microSD and SD cards equal internal storage for app performance. They give users much greater freedom, as before apps were limited to internal storage even if large external storage was installed. With A1 and future specifications, users have the ability to install many more apps than would normally be the case, thanks to large add-in storage that is able to run said apps without compromise.
