NVIDIA to Focus on Triple SLI

NVIDIA has officially confirmed that it plans to launch triple SLI, and has also revealed that it is currently focusing more on that than on developing new and more powerful graphics processors. When asked about the company refreshing its products, NVIDIA's chief executive Jen-Hsun Huang said the following:
We decided that the refresh that we would do this time was [GeForce] 8800 GT, and this is just a barn burner refresh. We are really proud of the 8800 GT and we are going to put our focus here. From [two GeForce] 8800 GT [graphics cards], you could obviously do SLI and soon you'll be able to do three-way SLI, so you are going to be able to put a lot of GPU horsepower into your system, starting with a very affordable 8800 GT, and so - this is our focus for now.
This also would seem to conflict with rumours that triple SLI is only initially planned for the 8800 GTX and Ultra cards, as Huang suggests that the company is working on triple SLI for the 8800 GT.

NVIDIA - SLI Doesn't Work in Crysis

Crysis hasn't been out for more two days and a number of people have already found out that SLI technology doesn't yet work on the new DirectX10 game title. Granted, Crysis is only in beta, but it would still be nice to see SLI supported from the start. NVIDIA made a statement today that the final Crysis game will support SLI via a patch.
Although SLI is not supported in the demo, the final Crysis game with a patch will provide full SLI support.

NVIDIA bringing in 3-Way

NVIDIA is getting its 3-way SLI ready for its November 12th launch. To run your own 3-Way SLI setup you will need the following three things. First, you will need the upcoming 3-way SLI drivers. Second, you will need a 680i SLI motherboard or a soon to be released 780a/780i SLI motherboard that must include at least 3 PCIe x16 slots. Third, you will need to have three GeForce 8800 GTX or 8800 Ultra graphics cards(It is a necessity to have 2 SLI connectors on each card). Lastly you will need a 3-way SLI bridge card. Interestingly it looks like the upcoming G92 won't support 3-way SLI because it only has one SLI connector per card.

NVIDIA Triple SLI: the “Ultimate Gaming Platform”

It looks like NVIDIA could be readying its new triple SLI platform if a slide published by Expreview is to be believed. The new three-way SLI will allow users to use three NVIDIA graphics cards simultaneously to run demanding 3D applications, although there are still very few details about it at present. The technology is being branded as "The new Ultimate Gaming Platform" by NVIDIA, and will work using a new three-way SLI bridge connector, with NVIDIA's nForce 680i and 780i being the first chipsets to support it. If this slide is for real, then the GeForce 8800 Ultra and GTX will be the only cards capable of triple SLI to start with, but presumaby more will follow soon after - if triple SLI is more successful than quad SLI that is (which was largely let down by poor drivers). ATI is also planning to use three graphics cards with its CrossFire technology in the near future, where one card is expected to be dedicated to physics processing.

Toshiba Rolls Out Two New SLI Notebooks

The Satellite X205-SLI3 and Satellite X205-SLI1 are both 17" notebooks packed with Core 2 Duo processors, 2GB of DDR2 memory and two hard drives (120 - 160GB 5400rpm). The X205-SLI3 sports a 2.2GHz processor and a 1650x1050 LCD screen, while the X205-SLI1 comes with a 2.0GHz processor and a 1440x900 LCD screen. Both notebooks are SLI capable, coming with dual NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT mobile GPUs (512MB DDR3 discrete memory + up to 255MB shared memory with TurboCache). Toshiba goes even further by including an HD DVD/DVD burner on both machines as well as an HDMI-out port, Harman Kardan 5.1 surround sound, Intel Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN networking, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, embedded webcam and a biometric fingerprint scanner. Voodoo Discovers Way to Run CrossFire on an SLI Chipset

It seems as though hardware manufacturers finally got tired of being forced into AMD products if they bought an AMD motherboard, or NVIDIA products if they bought an NVIDIA board. And so, Voodoo PC (owned by HP) decided to fix that. Using an unknown method, Voodoo is giving customers the option to get either CrossFire or SLI in a computer built around an NVIDIA SLI platform.

You can read the full interview, where Voodoo PC discusses the new technology and makes some "rather unflattering" remarks over the Dell XPS here.

Intel got an SLI license

According to the Inquirer, which isn't the most reliable source, Intel got an SLI license in return for the CSI and dual socket licenses. This rumor is based on some ad of which the vendor said it was not some mistake. Then again if you look at the pictures they speak of "PCI-X x16", seems our questionable source has a questionable source as well.
However, if this is actually true and applies to older chipsets as well this could mean current systems can get quite a boost and NV can actually sell quite some older cards to people looking for a cheap upgrade.
Time will tell if the Inq is right or not.
