South Korean Distributors Unveil Intel Core i5 14600KF & 14400F "Value Pack" Options

Earlier today, three of Intel's South Korean authorized distributors announced the introduction of Raptor Lake-R-based "Value Pack Genuine" buying options—Danawa's news section stated that the involved companies are: PC Direct, Coit, and Intec & Company. The newly revealed "reasonably priced" packages will contain 14th Generation Core i5-14600KF or i5-14400F processors. A photo preview (see below) showcases very plain blue retail boxes (with no logo), adorned with information-carrying stickers. The freshly unveiled "Value Pack (genuine product)" designs are region exclusive (for the moment); seemingly slotting somewhere in-between Intel's traditional "Boxed" retail and barebones "Tray" processor offerings.

According to the Danawa report, one of the local distributors stated: "this is a very meaningful moment as it is the first time that an official Intel value pack has been released in Korea. We are pleased to offer a more reasonable price while maintaining the same warranty period and standards as existing genuine products. We hope that this release will allow more consumers to upgrade their PCs without burden." Western news sites have highlighted the Core i5 14600KF Value Pack's cheapest available price point (identified via the Danawa comparison engine); KRW 284,540 (~$199 USD). The traditional "Boxed" retail equivalent goes for KRW 295,700 (~$207 USD), while the barebones "Tray" (OEM-oriented) package is priced at KRW 261,200 (~$183 USD). Tom's Hardware checked out the new offering's Batch # and Serial # codes: "on Intel's warranty information page, (it) said that the ATPO (Batch #) we listed indicated that it was a tray processor...We'd like to believe the numbers on the image were just placeholders that belong to a tray processor, or that Intel RMAs in South Korea are all handled by its distributors." Danawa's news piece repeatedly claims that the two new options offer lower pricing compared to "existing genuine box products," but come with the "same genuine warranty" terms.

NVIDIA's Value Now Exceeds $1 Trillion

NVIDIA has recently joined an elite bunch of publicly listed USA companies with valuations of $1 trillion (or more) - Team Green's share price moved beyond $412 today (May 30), having climbed by more than 30% over the past week. The company's stock value has been reported to have tripled in the span of eight months - this performance surprised a certain subset of financial analysts - having predicted (earlier this year) an overall industry downturn in demand for enterprise hardware. Back in April HSBC raised their recommendation on Nvidia stock to "Buy," the cited reason being an increased uptake of AI processing platforms.

NVIDIA's overall revenue growth was flat in 2022 with profits halved - this led to slightly reduced wages for parts of the executive team (most notably CEO Jensen Huang), but the multinational technology company's fortunes are set to turn around significantly over the course of this current financial year (2023-2024). Intel and AMD are slowly catching up with the market leader in the field of AI processing, with the development of rival technology. It will be interesting to see whether demand for NVIDIA AI GPUs will continue to grow, when alternative products hit the market.

AMD Claims Higher FPS/$ Radeon GPU Value Over NVIDIA Offerings

Frank Azor, Chief Architect of Gaming Solutions & Marketing at AMD, has posted an interesting slide on Twitter, claiming that AMD Radeon products possess higher FPS/$ value than NVIDIA's graphics offerings. According to the slide, AMD Radeon graphics cards are the best solutions for gamers looking at performance per dollar ratings and performance per watt. This means that AMD claims that Radeon products are inherently higher-value products than NVIDIA's offerings while also more efficient. As the chart shows, which you can see below, some AMD Radeon cards are offering up to 89% better FPS/$ value with up to 123% better FPS/Watt metric. This highest rating is dedicated to Radeon RX 6400 GPU; however, there are all GPUs included in comparison with up to the latest Radeon RX 6950 XT SKU.

Compared to TechPowerUp's own testing of AMD's Radeon cards and multiple reviews calculating the performance per dollar metric, we could not see numbers as high as AMD's. This means that AMD's marketing department probably uses a different selection of games that may perform better on AMD Radeon cards than NVIDIA GeForce RTX. Of course, as with any company marketing material, you should take it with a grain of salt, so please check some of our reviews for a non-biased comparison.

Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB DDR5 leak, Alongside Details of Kingston's DDR5 Modules

We've already seen some official and some leaks of various DDR5 modules and now Corsair's Dominator Platinum RGB modules have leaked. Alongside the pretty pictures, we also now know that these will be 5200 MHz/MT/s modules with a timing of 38-38-38-84 and that they'll require 1.25 V at these settings. Corsair has carried over its Capellix LEDs and iCue support, although this was pretty much expected.

Details of three sets of DDR5 memory from Kingston have also leaked and it looks like the company will have at least three main SKUs. What we're looking at is the ValueRam series with bog standard JEDEC spec at 4800 MHz with a CAS latency of 40, the Fury Beast which will feature the same clocks, but improved an CAS latency of 38 and finally a higher clocked Fury Beast SKU at 5200 MHz which a CAS latency of 40. All three SKUs will come in single 16 GB modules or 32 GB kits.

DRAM Market to Reach $100 Billion Volume This Year

The DRAM market is expected to increase in value some 30% this year, in wake of increased demand and parts shortage due to less-than-adequate production ramp-up to keep up with the demands of modern systems integrators. Doing this, its value will jump to more than $100 Billion in value, marking the first time a semiconductor product category ever surpasses that mark. The 30% increase in value joins an accumulated 78% increase that already occurred in 2017 - a twofold increase in just two years. Who said anything about cryptocurrency having massive increases in value?

IC Insights expects this $100 Billion threshold to be passed this year (a 39% growth), while IBS projects it to only be surpassed by 2019, with a 32% growth for 2018. Still, that's a small differing window which matters little in the grand scheme of things.
