Digital Eclipse Unveils Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, Launching Later This Year

At Digital Eclipse, we specialize in restoring historic games for modern consoles, giving legendary classics the respect they deserve. As you might imagine, we get a lot of requests from fans, and for many years now, the overwhelming number-one request has been…"MORTAL KOMBAAAAAAAAAT!" That's why we were so excited to reveal in this week's State of Play presentation that we're partnering with our friends Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment to bring Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection to PC and consoles later in 2025.

With multiple 90s and 2000s games from the early days of this groundbreaking fighting game series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection will also provide a comprehensive, detailed look at the franchise's history ever assembled. We'll take you back to the glorious 1990s, the days of arcades and tokens, of hidden Fatalities and secret characters, with the original versions of Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. But we're not stopping there—many of the home versions of these games from vintage 16-bit consoles and, yes, even handheld systems are also included. And the arcade and console games can all be played online with rollback netcode.

Square Enix Announces FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles

One of the greatest games in the entire FINAL FANTASY series is back! FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles releases September 30th for PS5, PS4, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. This enhanced version has been created by a team composed of both original team members and new developers, and features everything that made the 1997 PlayStation original so acclaimed. That includes the epic story, the satisfyingly strategic battles and the flexible job system—but it also adds new content and features that make the game even more fun to play. We'll go into those new additions shortly, but first, for those new to the game…

What is FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles?
FINAL FANTASY TACTICS - The Ivalice Chronicles is a tactical RPG that tells the true history of a troubled land. Following the death of the king, a mere boy of two ascends the throne. That means whoever is named regent essentially rules the land. Two dukes vie for the position—Goltanna the Black Lion and Larg the White Lion. These powerful figures are destined to clash, and the resulting conflict would become known as the War of the Lions.

Whether this is your first time hearing about the series or you're a longtime fan, it's the perfect day to step into the world of these amazing games! Introducing Legendary Creators
The Dragon Quest franchise was brought to life by a trio of legendary creators. Yuji Horii is the visionary game designer and creator of the series and has shaped its direction since the original title's release in 1986. The distinctive character designs were crafted by the late Akira Toriyama, the world-renowned manga artist. Complementing visuals and storytelling is the iconic music composed by the late Koichi Sugiyama. Together, these three pioneers established a legacy that continues to inspire RPGs today, and each of their specific elements have become the defining traits of the Dragon Quest experience.

Hello everyone! It's finally time—the gates have opened to the Labyrinth Of The Demon King. The game is out now, and to celebrate we've debuted a brand-new launch trailer (see below). Labyrinth Of The Demon King has been an incredible labor of love by the developer—J. R. Hudepohl—and we've extremely excited to finally be able to share it with everyone. The game is out now on Steam, GOG, Switch, PS4 + PS5, and Xbox platforms—there's a 20% discount which will be active for the first 2 weeks.

We'd also like to thank PC Gamer for their glowing review of the game: 81/100! For a first time developer, this is a remarkable achievement. As a reminder, demo save data will not carry over to the main game. We've added a section on the main steam page as a reminder for this for new users as well. Thank you all for your tremendous support, and we hope you enjoy the game! If you do (and we certainly hope you do!) be sure to leave a review—it helps us and the developer a lot. You'll hear from us (Top Hat Studios) again soon—until then, enjoy all the Labyrinth Of The Demon King has to offer! Thank you all again for your support for during development; it feels unreal that the game is finally releasing.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 Remastered Provides Plenty of Nostalgia

Among my many endeavors as a teenager, from learning to drive and how to play guitar, one stood alone on a mountain of impossibilities: landing an Ollie. It would come in time after a lot of practice and many bumps and scrapes. From there I'd move on to landing Shov Its, pulling off the occasional Manual, landing an Ollie down some stairs, and grind on a few curbs. The kick-flip, though, remains elusive to this day. Among the many things skateboarding taught me, like perseverance and how to "walk it off," it also taught me how to look at the world around me, in a different way. Where someone would just see an empty parking lot, I would see endless possibilities of curb grinds. Stairs? I bet I could Ollie down them. That rail? Not a chance.

This is what the Tony Hawk games dialed up to 11, creating elaborate levels loosely inspired by real-world locations, encouraging you to examine its surroundings and assemble your own "run" while pulling off tricks you could only dream of. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, launching July 11 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox PC, Steam, PlayStation 4|5, Nintendo Switch 1|2, and day one with Game Pass, brings us back to this world with some of the most elaborate levels the series has ever put out, now with a significant boost in overall quality and playability—the game has never felt more fun.

Piranha Games Launches MechWarrior 5: Clans - Ghost Bear: Flash Storm DLC

MechWarriors, the time for waiting is over. We're thrilled to tell you that our first MechWarrior 5: Clans DLC—Ghost Bear: Flash Storm—is launching later today for Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. You'll be able to experience the continuation of the Operation Revival story from the perspective of one of BattleTech's most storied Clans. The Ghost Bear is currently at a historic low point after a catastrophic start to the invasion. But a new set of Bear Khans have a daring plan to get the Ghost Bears back in the game. We launched MechWarrior 5: Clans last October for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and day one with Game Pass, and we're extremely proud of what our team at Piranha Games accomplished. In retrospect, our goal was pretty wild: delivering a game that provides a jumping-on point for new players while simultaneously honoring decades of complex, interfactional lore. All the while, we needed to ensure that players felt like they were in the cockpit of a towering 'Mech.

The Clans campaign followed the Smoke Jaguar Clan, a faction whose aggression and obsession with leading the Children of Kerensky out of exile made them notorious among rival Clans—the Ghost Bears are a completely different beast. Where the Smoke Jaguars were obsessed over what they saw as their manifest destiny, the Ghost Bears know the power of patience; its "ambush predator" mantra perfectly attuned to the Strana Mechty Ghost Bear, whom the Clan took as their namesake. That approach hasn't served them well as of late, however. Clan Ghost Bear has fallen far behind their fellow Clans during the opening events of the Clan Invasion due to poor preparation and leadership. But newly elected Khans (Clan leaders) Bjorn Jorgensson and Aletha Kabrinski look to put that past behind them and take their rightful place among the other invading Clans.

Ra Ra Boom Celebrates Couch Co-Op with Some Innovative New Twists

Ra Ra Boom is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC this summer, as part of what we consider the summer of beat 'em ups. As beat 'em up fans, we can't wait to play some of the great titles that will make this probably the biggest year for beat 'em ups since Castle Crashers launched forever ago. If you're a fan of beat 'em ups, you're in for a great summer. And we hope you consider adding Ra Ra Boom to your list of must plays. In Ra Ra Boom, you and up to three friends play as one of four ninja space cheerleaders. There's Aris (the leader), Ren (the blade), Vee (the shield), and Saida (the cyborg). Zoi, an AI gone rogue, has overtaken earth and our four heroines are the only ones who can stop it.

Beat 'em Up/Shoot 'em Up Mash Up
As the saying goes, you don't bring pom poms to a boss fight. So, we had to ensure our heroines were armed for the AI menace they were facing. Where most beat 'em ups focus on melee with limited-use ranged options, we did things a little different. Ra Ra Boom can be played as a pure beat 'em up. Each character has their own melee attack and you can be effective with them. Or you can play it as a pure shoot 'em up, because you also have an effective ranged attack with unlimited ammo. But it's best to mix the two, getting into your flow and finding the attack combos that suit the moment. We think that after you play Ra Ra Boom, with its speed and fluid mix of melee and ranged combat, it will be hard to go back to the standard we've all gotten used to.

8BitDo Introduces New Retro R8 Mouse Model: "NES-inspired" N Edition

Late last November, 8BitDo announced the transparent "classic Xbox-inspired" Retro 87 mechanical keyboard and a matching Retro R8 wireless mouse. The brand tends to borrow visual language from much older hardware—mostly from the 1980s and 1990s—but Microsoft's debut home console effort (in Halo 2 Collector's Edition form) stimulated 8BitDo's design team. As of last week, the manufacturer has opened up pre-orders for another Retro R8 mouse model. The "N Edition" variant will be deployed with identical internals—as seen within its translucent forebear; namely Pixart's PAW 3395 optical sensor and Kailh's Sword GM X micro switches—but it features a familiar off-white/multi-gray tones/red button aesthetic. 8BitDo's product page does not mention Nintendo's Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) by name, but promotional imagery showcases a return to truly retro pastures. The Retro R8 N Edition SKU is also marketed as a "perfect companion" to the brand's first attempt at making a mechanical keyboard: the Retro 87. 8BitDo's official webstore advertises a May 22 launch for their Retro R8 N Edition wireless mouse—the pre-order price is $49.99 (+ shipping fee).

Bloom & Rage: Lost Records Tape 2 Available Now on PC & Consoles

The first episode of Don't Nod's narrative adventure, Lost Records: Bloom & Rage, ended with a hell of a cliffhanger: a massive discovery of something unknown, possibly malevolent, and a devastating revelation about one of the story's central figures. As the second episode, or tape, of this player-choice-driven, nostalgia-powered story aims to draw things to their conclusion when Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 2 launches today (April 15), players have been left wondering what to expect. To dig deeper into the game's ambitions and get some further insight on what to expect from Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat's next escapade, we (at PlayStation Blog) sat down for a chat with Michel Koch, Creative Director at Don't Nod's Montreal studio.

You Oughta Know
Koch was eager to tell us how this experience would differ from the first. "The first Tape, 'Bloom,' is the nice and sunny part of the beginning of the summer, of you meeting and bonding with those girls. The second half is called 'Rage,' which is mostly the aftermath of the cliffhanger at the end of Tape 1. We wanted Tape 1 to let the player find their own space within the group of friends, getting a feeling of a summer where you meet friends, but also giving hints of weird things. They're finding the clearing. They're finding the abyss. It's a very natural story of four girls having a fun summer together before Swann moves away. But Tape 2 will focus more on this weirder part of the story. We know what happened at the end of the summer. We still don't know why, but we know that they promise not to see each other again. We know about the weird box, we know about Kat, but we don't know the consequences of this revelation. How do you continue to have a normal summer with your friends? And, of course, the continuation of what's happening with those weird things they found in the forest."

Analogue 3D Launch Window Pushed into July, FPGA-powered Console Previously Delayed into Q1

Analogue's modern reimagining of Nintendo's N64 home console has hit another pre-release obstacle. Their Analogue 3D model was first revealed in 2023, with a projected 2024 launch on the cards. The system has experienced a series of setbacks—prior to the latest official announcement, customers were expecting to receive finalized hardware by now (first quarter of 2025). Once again, the company has revised release timeframes for its $249.99 FPGA-powered console—according to an official "3D Preorder FAQ": "Analogue 3D was originally available for pre-order at the end of 2024, (and) scheduled to ship Q1 2025. Shipping is delayed (as of March 18th, 2025) and is now shipping by July 2025. We are working hard to get your 3D order in hands ASAP, and appreciate your patience. If you have an open pre-order no action is needed. As always, if you'd like to cancel your pre-order at any time, Analogue has always had a no questions asked, 100% refund policy for pre-orders."

Analogue's promotional materials showcase a very slick-looking premium reinterpretation (in black or white) of the classic N64 system. The R&D team spent: "nearly four years engineering it in FPGA. No more incompatibilities found in software emulation like input lag, graphic/audio inaccuracies, timing/frame rate issues and more. For the first time, you can re-experience the N64 exactly as it was meant to be, without compromise." According to product pages, a controller is not bundled in with the Analogue 3D package. Authentic front panel connectors indicate customers having to reuse original "trident-shaped" N64 (NUS-005) controllers, or third-party equivalents. Certain promo shots show off 8BitDo's recently introduced 64 Bluetooth Controller. Given Analogue's revised schedule, this wireless gamepad is expected to arrive weeks ahead of its natural partner piece.
