Arctic Announces the Freezer 4U-M CPU Cooler for Servers

ARCTIC, a leading manufacturer of low-noise PC coolers and components, releases a multi-compatible server cooler for 4U server racks. The Freezer 4U-M is the successor of the established Freezer 4U SP3. It is a versatile server cooler with a push-pull fan setup, a large contact area and an improved mounting system. Thanks to its compatibility with Intel's LGA4189 and LGA4677 as well as AMD's SP6, sTR5, SP3, TR4, sTRX4 and sWRX8 sockets, it is suitable for a wide range of Intel and AMD server processors.

Alphacool Unveils Eisblock XPX Water Block Made Entirely of Brass

Alphacool today presents the brass variants of the Eisblock Aurora XPX Pro and XPX Edge CPU coolers. Due to the high popularity of these very powerful CPU coolers, Alphacool has decided to offer these additional variants in black and chrome.

The new XPX Aurora Pro and XPX Aurora Edge models are made entirely of brass and are specially designed for processors with particularly large processor cores. In combination with the nickel-plated copper base, the waste heat of the CPU is distributed even better and transferred more efficiently to the cooling liquid. GIGABYTE Enterprise Products Support AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX Series Processors

AMD Announces Expanded Ryzen Threadripper 5000 WX-Series Availability

In March of 2022, AMD released the latest AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX-Series processors with our OEM partner Lenovo and the ThinkStation P620. This legendary capability is now expanding into the Dell Precision 7865 workstation. As AMD continues to expand its workstation business, we're happy to share that Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 WX-Series processors will be available at leading system integrators worldwide beginning in July, 2022. We also expect to make these processors available to our DIY community later this year.

Threadripper processors have always been a platform that is defined by leadership performance and capability which enables unlimited creative potential. Examining what our most demanding enthusiasts and content creators value most in the platform has led us to unify the Threadripper and Threadripper PRO product lines. Going forward, the Threadripper platform will now use a single "common infrastructure." This means there will be one set of Threadripper PRO processors to choose from, with one CPU socket and chipset, and every processor will be based on AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO silicon.

Alphacool Eisbaer LT Aurora AIO Now Available with NexXxoS HPE 360 Radiator

Alphacool's CPU All-in-One solutions Eisbaer Aurora and Eisbaer LT Aurora are now available with the new NexXxoS HPE (High Performance Edition) 360mm radiator. What does HPE mean? The NexXxos HPE-30 radiator uses the same materials as the previous NexXxos models, but technically goes a step further. Due to the condensed internal construction, the number of water channels and copper fins could be increased. This means that a larger volume of water is in direct contact with the cooling fins and the heat transfer is enormously improved.

Due to the higher number of fin rows and their shortening, the cooling surface is also used much more efficiently. Comparison tests (test setup: ASUS Prime X299/Intel i9-10900X with 350 W waste heat) with the conventional NexXxos radiator have shown that a significant performance increase of 4.5K is possible when using the HPE radiator. At higher ambient temperatures and higher fan speeds, the performance gap to the normal NexXxoS radiators even increases progressively and reaches a possible performance increase of up to 6K. There has never been such a leap in performance in the past!

AMD Threadripper PRO 5000 and EPYC "Milan-X" Join Ryzen 5800X3D for March Availability

It will be an unexpectedly busy March for AMD, with the company launching three distinct products across its processor lines. The first one, which we reported earlier this morning, speaks of a late-March availability of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core/16-thread Socket AM4 processor, which AMD claims offers gaming performance on par with the Core i9-12900K "Alder Lake." It turns out, there are two more surprises.

Apparently the company is ready with Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 series workstation processors. Designed for Socket sWRX8 motherboards based on the only chipset option available—the AMD WRX80, these are the first Threadripper products based on the "Zen 3" microarchitecture, and feature 8-channel DDR4 memory, and up to 128 PCI-Express Gen4 lanes for workstation connectivity. Unfortunately, you can't buy one of these in the retail channel, as AMD is making them OEM-only. The first pre-built workstations will arrive as early as next week (March 8). At this point we still don't know if these chips use the newer "Zen 3" CCD with 3D Vertical Cache, or the conventional "Zen 3" CCD with 32 MB planar L3 cache.

AMD Threadripper Pro 5000 Series Spec Leaks

There has been some discussion as to whether or not AMD would launch any Zen 3 based Threadripper processors or not, considering that the desktop processors have been out for well over a year by now. According to igor's Lab, we now know that AMD is very close to launching some new 5000-series Threadripper Pro CPU's—codename Chagall—that fits into AMD's sWRX8 socket, which is intended for high-end workstations and servers.

It appears AMD is planning to launch five new CPUs, namely the 5995WX, 5975WX, 5965WX, 5955WX and 5945WX. All of the CPUs appear to have a maximum, single core boost clock of 4550 MHz and range from 12 to 64 cores, with a TDP of 280 W and a power range of 170 to 260 Watts. Up to eight channels of DDR4 3200 MHz is supported and up to 128 PCIe 4.0 are expected to be featured as well. For those hoping there would be an HEDT version, we have bad news, as based on what we've found out independently and the information provided by igor's Lab, there won't be any HEDT Chagall CPUs, at least not at this point in time. This means that the upgrade path for sTRX4 motherboards ended up being as bad as for the older TR4 motherboards, as AMD has now abandoned two HEDT platforms in a row.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 Series Bound for March 2022

AMD is preparing to update its Ryzen Threadripper PRO line of workstation processors, with product announcements slated for January 2022, along the sidelines of CES, with availability slated for March 8, 2022, according to a VideoCardz report. The new Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000 series processors are likely to combine "Zen 3+" CCDs (6 nm, featuring 3D Vertical Cache memory), with full sWRX8 I/O that includes 128 PCI-Express Gen 4 lanes, and 8-channel DDR4 memory. There are no sTRX4 options on the horizon.

What's interesting with the lineup is that CPU core-counts range all the way from 12-core/24-thread to 64-core/128-thread. Past generations of Threadripper WX stuck with higher core-counts (32 and up). The series begins with the Threadripper PRO 5945WX (12-core/24-thread), followed by the PRO 5955WX (16-core/32-thread), the PRO 5965WX (24-core/48-thread), PRO 5975WX (32-core/64-thread), and the 64-core/128-thread PRO 5995WX. There's no 48-core part in the stack. The TDP of all these chips is rated at 280 W.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5945WX and 5995WX Surface

AMD is looking to launch a substantial lineup of HEDT and workstation processors before the end of 2021, based on its latest "Zen 3" microarchitecture. These processors are categorized in two distinct lines—the Ryzen Threadripper 5000X targeting HEDTs, and the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX targeting workstations. Both are based on different sockets, sTRX4 and sWRX8, respectively, with the latter featuring 8-channel DDR4 memory, compared to the former's 4-channel. Two Ryzen Threadripper Pro 5000WX series chips surfaced on the Milky Way@Home distributed computing database, the 5945WX and 5995WX.

The application identifies the 5945WX as a 12-core/24-thread processor, while the 5995WX is the top-dog 64-core/128-thread part. AMD maintains lower core-count Threadrippers to target the section of the market that seeks I/O capabilities over core-counts (memory bandwidth, a large number of PCIe lanes supporting NVMe RAID or multiple AIC compute accelerators, etc,). The lower core counts also come with higher CPU clock-speeds, benefiting less-parallelized applications. At this point it's not known if the Threadripper 5000 family features the conventional "Zen 3" CCD chiplet, or the new "Zen 3+" chiplets with 64 MB 3D Vertical Cache (3DV cache), but the company is planning to monetize the new chiplet across its EPYC enterprise line as the additional cache benefits certain applications with large streaming data-sets. It's conceivable that the Threadripper Pro series could benefit from 3DV cache, too.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 5000 "Chagall" Processors Arrive This August in Both sTRX4 and sWRX8 Variants

AMD is preparing to launch the Ryzen Threadripper 5000 "Chagall" HEDT processors in August 2021, according to a MoePC report, confirming a rumor from April 2021. These chips will arrive in core-counts of up to 64, spanning two CPU socket types—sTRX4 (Ryzen Threadripper) and sWRX8 (Ryzen Threadripper PRO), and compatible with existing motherboards that run Ryzen 3000 Threadrippers, requiring a UEFI firmware update. Nearly every retail sTRX4 motherboard we've come across features USB BIOS Flashback, letting you update the firmware of an off-the-shelf motherboard without needing to install a compatible processor.

What's new with the Ryzen Threadripper 5000 is the new "Zen 3" CCDs, which place all 8 CPU cores of the die into a single CCX, sharing a unified 32 MB L3 cache. The I/O is identical to the previous generation, with the sTRX4 chips featuring quad-channel DDR4 interface, and sWRX8 ones featuring 8-channel, both with ECC; and up to 88 PCI-Express Gen 4 lanes. AMD also slightly increased the xGMI2 bandwidth to 18 GT/s, from 16 GT/s on the Ryzen Threadripper 3000 series.

Corsair Intros iCUE H170i Elite Capellix CPU Cooler

Corsair today introduced its largest all-in-one liquid CPU cooler, the iCUE H170i Elite Capellix, augmenting the iCUE Elite Capellix series the company debuted in September 2020. This cooler lugs along a large 420 mm x 140 mm radiator, and a high-pressure pump-block, making it capable of HEDT applications including 280 W TDP Ryzen Threadripper PRO chips in the sWRX8 and sTRX4 sockets. Among the other sockets supported are AM4, LGA2066, LGA1200, and LGA115x.

While the pump-block is essentially of the same design as other models in the series, with its "split flow" micro-fin lattice, and Capellix LED-illuminated top, the flow-rate is suitably increased to match with the larger 420 mm radiator, at 0.82 L/m. Each of the three included 140 mm fans turns at speeds of up to 2,000 RPM, and features magnetic-levitation bearings. The company didn't reveal air-flow or air-pressure numbers, but mentioned noise output to be up to 37 dBA at top speed. A Corsair iCUE Commander Core RGB controller comes included with the cooler. Available now, the iCUE H170i Elite Capellix is priced at USD $229.99.

ASUS Announces ROG Strix LC II Line of AIO Liquid CPU Coolers

ASUS today announced the Republic of Gamers (ROG) Strix LC II line of all-in-one, liquid, closed-loop, CPU coolers. The series includes five models—the ROG Strix LC II 240, ROG Strix LC II 240 ARGB, ROG Strix LC II 280 ARGB, ROG Strix LC II 360, and ROG Strix LC II 360 ARGB. These coolers are based on the 7th generation of AIO CLCs by Asetek, which feature variable pump speeds starting at 840 RPM, and improved ROG Strix fans included with the coolers. The round pump-block of the ROG Strix LC II is Asetek-standard, and compatible with AMD's sTRX4/sWRX8 CLC brackets.

The Strix LC II 240, ROG Strix LC II 240 ARGB are nearly identical in featuring 240 mm x 120 mm radiators, but the latter comes with addressable RGB LED-illuminated fans like the rest of the series. The ROG Strix LC II 280 is the first in the series to include 140 mm spinners, as it comes with a 280 mm x 140 mm radiator. The ROG Strix LC II 360 comes with the largest radiator of the series—360 mm x 120 mm, its ARGB model includes illuminated fans.

Alphacool Announces Eisbaer Pro Aurora 240 and 360 AIO Liquid CPU Coolers

The Alphacool Eisbaer Pro represents a special variant in the Alphacool AIO range. The standard features of all Alphacool Eisbaer AIOs remain the same. These include the pure copper radiators, the ability to be able to expand the loop with the quick-release fastener and of course the nickel-plated copper cold plate. The new DC-LT 2 pump is used as the pump. This pump is already in use with the GPU AIO Eiswolf 2. A new pump shaft and improved electronics have made the pump even smoother.

The special feature of the Eisbaer Pro is the significantly larger cooler base which was specially developed for AMD Threadripper processors and Intel LGA 3647. However, the Eisbaer Pro also fits the current Ryzen socket AMD AM4. Due to the significantly larger cold plate, AMD Ryzen AM4 CPUs are cooled particularly well as all cores are definitely completely covered by cooling fins.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX Processor Pictured: 8-channel DDR4

Here is the first picture of the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX processor, designed to be part of AMD's HEDT/workstation processor launch for this year. The picture surfaced briefly on the ChipHell forums, before being picked up by HXL (@9550pro) This processor is designed to compete with Intel Xeon W series processors, such as the W-3175X, and is hence located a segment above even the "normal" Threadripper series led by the 64-core/128-thread Threadripper 3990X. Besides certain features exclusive to Ryzen PRO series processors, the killer feature with the 3995WX is a menacing 8-channel DDR4 memory interface, that can handle up to 2 TB of memory with ECC.

The Threadripper PRO 3995X is expected to have a mostly identical I/O to the most expensive EPYC 7662 processor. As a Ryzen-branded chip, it could feature higher clock speeds than its EPYC counterpart. To enable its 8-channel memory, the processor could come with a new socket, likely the sWRX8, and AMD WRX80 chipset, although it wouldn't surprise us if these processors have some form of inter-compatibility with sTRX4 and TRX40 (at limited memory bandwidth and PCIe capabilities, of course). Sources tell VideoCardz that AMD could announce the Ryzen Threadripper PRO series as early as July 14, 2020.
