I can't guarantee this review will be published on the day the 1MORE EVO launches, or even within that month. If it does, perhaps you will be interested to know that 1MORE has a launch discount of $30/£25/€30/C$40/A$40 through June 8. The US also seems to get a free Qi charger, which I'll accept because this time around, pricing is generally the same across different regions. Another thing to note with 1MORE is that its products go on sale often and tend to be discounted more often than not soon after launch. So you might as well consider $140 to be the street price for the 1MORE EVO, although I can still see a case for $170 being competitive.
For one, LDAC on TWS is almost never a thing due to the limited available space. We saw how it can come in handy for streaming lossless and high bitrate content, but it affects battery life on a set with mediocre battery life already. Then there is the ANC implementation, which is one of the best I have tested to date—I consider it a good quality of life improvement that rounds out the feature set. Also take the smart playback controls, for example, where IR sensors ensure playback is paused when you remove the earphones and resumed when you put them back in. This can be a good way around Transparency mode, which takes a couple of seconds to switch to, but you initially have to guess whether it is the correct mode even here since 1MORE spent a lot of R&D money on a famous name rather than voice prompts.
I can only hope 1MORE re-considers its tuning influences since the stock tuning has issues that make the marketing talk hard to swallow. The ColorBuds 2 suffered from it too. Helping the EVO is the drivers being competent enough to handle EQ quite well. Combined with native SoundID integration in the app, it not only helps get around the tonality drawbacks as the sound signature is personalized more to your preferences. It helps balance out the technicalities too; thus, tonality, technicality, and technology—the three Ts—are good enough for me to recommend the 1MORE EVO. It's not perfect by any means, but such is the poor standard in the TWS market that it gets plenty right and makes a mark.
