I was hoping that by the time I finish writing this review, there would be a sale link for me to use. As it turns out, it's been a couple of months since and nothing has changed. I have to go with their target price here, which is in line with their other offerings. For example, the 1stplayer DK 5.0 LITE is a TKL keyboard with no hot-swappable switches and retail Outemu switches. While older, it currently sells for $40–$45. The newer LANG MK8 with its subjective improvements throughout coming in at $50 is still very good value thus. Indeed, pricing on regional stores actually converts to slightly under $50, too.
As such, a lot of the issues I had with the keyboard can now be swept under the keyboard. The only real point of contention is the software experience, which can definitely be improved upon. A lot of this is as simple as hiring a QC and English-speaking team to fine-tune the whole thing, but I'd also like to see the company use a unified driver instead of different programs for every single product they have. In some cases, the language barrier is so high it actually is an impediment and requires minor trial and error. However snobby I may be coming off here, rest assured that it is not a deal-breaker. You get what you pay for with most 1stplayer products, and the LANG MK8 is no exception.
The trouble is that most of this paragraph is taken verbatim from my review of a Redragon keyboard. Indeed, there is so much in common here that 1stplayer is having trouble getting me to distinguish it from other contemporaries of the region. What does that say about the average end user then? I urge the company to do more different to get eyes upon the brand and avoid dismissal as another Amazon special, which unfortunately is easier said that done. They aimed to do so here with the balance of features and pre-applied branded lube on Gateron switches, but the lack of much e-tailer interest to date suggests otherwise. If you spot the LANG MK8 somewhere, however, do consider it. It does plenty to justify your hard earned money.
