A Closer Look

Taking a closer look at the adapters, they are of gray color instead of the AirLive blue color. They are square and do not look out of the ordinary. The most noticable difference between these and others is the size and build quality. They are a bit larger, but are much better built than many other adapters.

The top of each unit is solid and features the AirLive logo. Next to it are three LEDs which are used to symbolize the power, activity and Ethernet status respectively. The bottom part is occupied by air vents and also holds two additional logos. One reads "Home Plug AV", while the other lets you know what speed to expect - 200 Mbps.

The side is covered by additional air vents. Considering so many openings, we will keep an eye on temperatures. Odds are, that you will use the device in a crowded place, possibly with other electronic devices or furniture obstructing airflow. The rear has a large sticker, with the serial & model number, MAC address of the device and a password to gain access to the unit.

The underside is where you plug in the provided Ethernet cable. There is a security button and a reset button on either side of the connector. While the function of the latter is obvious, we will find out later, what the exact purpose of the "Security" button is.
