USB 2.0 Performance

A Samsung T133 300GB 8MB cache 7200 RPM drive was used for our performance tests.

The performance of the Akasa integral fusion is not nearly as good as the other enclosures we have tested so far. The difference here is over 10% when compared to the Cooler Master X-Craft. The upside is a very low CPU utilization during transfer of only 9%.

Due to the slow transfer speed, the hard drive is always faster than the USB interface, thus the integral fusion is not bottlenecked by the drive.

ATTO confirms the low speeds of the Akasa integral fusion. The write speed maxes out at a mere 23.7MB/s. This is quite slow as well. The read burst speeds are just as high as measured with HD Tach.
