A Closer Look - Inside
Simply remove the two thumbscrews holding each panel in place to access the interior. The insides of the chassis look a bit fragile at first as the metal used does flex a bit under pressure. There are a few openings along the edge of the motherboard tray, and while these should really help with cable management, none come with grommets. There is also a large opening in the motherboard tray, which should make swapping to another CPU cooler a breeze.
There is unfortunately very little space at the deepest point of the motherboard tray’s backside. With 14 mm, you will have a hard time routing and hiding everything nicely. The 6 mm the side panel adds really help here, but you will definitely have to apply some tough love to re-attach the panel once everything is said and done.
You may install up to four 3.5" drives into the front of the chassis, and there is a single 2.5" drive that can be placed on top of the cage, which gives you a total of five bays to work with. The external drive bays are in the very top. Antec equipped the 5.25" bay with white thumbscrews. This is a simple, but effective system we have seen in other cases, so it should work well here too.
The PSU bay in the rear consists of a large opening for fresh air and two strips of foam. Above that are the seven expansion slots for the motherboard. While the slots work well, being of the break-out kind can be considered a shortcoming in a 50 euros chassis. In the very top is a simple 120 mm fan that pushes air out the back of the chassis.
The ceiling is, as mentioned, filled with two more 120 mm units. All of the fans within the GX500 are identical and are set to pull air out of the case. There is no space to install a radiator here, but this case is probably not the one you would go for with a liquid cooling setup. All the cables within the chassis are of the default variety, which will make attaching them to a modern motherboard a breeze. As there is no USB 3.0 to 2.0 adapter, users with older boards will have to spend more money on getting one.
