The HCP-850 Platinum performed incredibly well overall, which comes as no surprise to me since it is based on a cutting-edge platform that only uses top-notch components, including top-notch Japanese capacitors. Antec is enjoying their cooperation with Delta and is actually the only company in the desktop PSUs space that has this privilege. This excellent product's only problem is probably the small price difference to its bigger brother, the HCP-1000. I believe most of you will prefer to spend an additional $15 on the stronger unit, although you may never need a 1 kW PSU. This clearly shows that the HCP-850 is sold at a pretty stiff price, which needs urgent revising. Antec offered a mail-in rebate which lowered the price to below $190 at the time I wrote this review, but rebates are never permanent offers, so my evaluation only takes the regular price into account. I strongly believe Antec should reconsider their pricing strategy to drop this unit's price by at least 30 bucks, which would make it much more competitive.

To conclude, the HCP-850 is another excellent product from Antec and Delta Electronics. Its only significant downside is its high price tag which will have most users opt for the HCP-1000 instead since the latter only costs a few bucks more while offering more PCIe connectors and power. Antec should turn their current mail-in rebate into a permanent price reduction to place the HCP-850 into the same price category as the rest of the 850 W Platinum competition.
