Antec has taken the successful Fusion and has slimmed it down considerably with the MicroFusion. Even though the dimensions are now much smaller, you still get a fully featured HTPC chassis. The MicroFusion has retained the same, simple, chic look which one searches for when getting a home theater up and running. The interior of the chassis is also well thought out, giving you a surprising amount of space around the lower area of the mainboard, even with all the cables attached. This allows you to easily expand the functionality of the system with a TV tuner, dedicated graphics card or the likes. The biggest downside however is noise. While including three 80 mm fans within the case is a good thing, they are too noisy even at the lowest setting. Antec should focus on providing simple low noise alternatives instead of the functionality of a speed switch on each fan. Odds are you will never open up your system just to reach that little box, instead you would go for the lowest setting and leave it at that.
That said, the Antec MicroFusion with its high quality 80Plus 350W PSU and Soundgraph display does make a good impression. The thick Aluminum piece in the front really adds to quality and assembling the system is very easy considering the size of the chassis. It would be good to see a refresh of the chassis with silent fans, and updated features, as that would make for a nearly perfect HTPC enclosure at the given price point.
