In a 1950s alternate timeline, the Soviet Union makes technological breakthroughs with the discovery of a new programmable molecule used in the building of robots, and an AI network that does the thinking for all the robots, called the Kollektiv. Robots take over all manual labor. Facility 3826, a secret part of the Soviet Union where all this cutting-edge tech is being developed, goes awfully quiet. A newer version of the Kollektiv AI the country is working on, goes rogue and eliminates its creators. You are sent by the government to find out what went wrong, and to prevent the AI's control from spreading to other machines outside the area.
