Board Software

OK, so by the time I got to installing the software, I had already frozen my board a few times, and I could only think of another fifty pictures I had to edit. The IMPACT definitely has a plethora of tricks up its sleeve, including custom sleep modes, fan controls, etc.; all that good stuff you know you love is here. You click, it works and comes with the options you would find in the BIOS and more, since you now have active LAN, etc., as well.

This one tool, though, I cannot be without. ASUS's Boot Tool, as silly as it sounds, allows you to boot into the BIOS with the click of a button. If you have the wrong keyboard, and I do, getting into the BIOS on reboot can be near impossible, but this tool shuts the OS down in a few seconds and takes you into the BIOS to tweak BIOS settings with just one click. So with it only taking four or five seconds to get in and out of the actual BIOS to tweak stuff, why do I need software to do it in the OS? Well, OK, the RAMDisk option really is nice if you have enough RAM to use it, and some free webstorage is alright if you want ASUS to hold on to the data for you; great place to store you drivers and such so you don’t need the DVD anymore.

There is obviously a tool that will alert you as soon as a new firmware update becomes available, and I do love me some MemTweakIt, that is for sure, and ROG CPU-Z is nice too; I am chuckling to myself right now because I managed to squeeze all the software into just nine photographs.

Oh, but there are a couple more photographs. There is the panel for audio-related settings, in "ROG-Style", and Sonic Radar made me feel as though I was cheating since it pointed the direction of sound out when it worked, which was most of the time. It is actually pretty smart because it let me turn in-game volume down low enough to tell what was going on around me while gaming properly for a few hours. It is still a 3D-sound hack to me, though, and for that, ASUS, I love you.
