ASUS is a Taiwan-based computer hardware and electronics company founded in 1989. The Gladius III Wireless is quickly summarized: A Gladius III, just wireless. The internal battery brings the weight up to 89 g, but other than that, not much is different. PixArt's PAW3370 customized for up to 26,000 CPI is the sensor. The main button switches are hot-swappable, and the second-generation push-fit switch sockets are compatible with 3-pin mechanical and 5-pin Omron optical switches, a set of which is included in the box. By default, a pair of ROG Micro switches rated for 70 M clicks is installed, but may be swapped with the optical switches if desired. The USB-C charging cable is particularly flexible, featuring a soft braid. Pure PTFE feet are installed by default, and a set of replacement feet is included. Without RGB illumination, ASUS promises a battery life of up to 55 hours in 2.4 GHz wireless mode and up to 85 hours using Bluetooth. Speaking of which, RGB lighting is fully configurable through Armoury Crate, which also provides the usual customization features along with a new function called Rapid Fire.
Disclaimer:
Using the launch firmware, the ROG Gladius III Wireless suffers from significant motion delay across the entire CPI range, both in wired and wireless mode. Firmware version 11.61.30 (1.00.19) fixes this, which is why updating to said version is strongly recommended. All assertions related to performance made in this review are based on firmware version 11.61.30.
