Assembly
Starting any build, it's good to prepare the existing cables for routing. The front panel cables are ok in length but the USB 3.0 cable is simply too short to route out of the case easily. I was able to route it into the onboard USB 3.0 port on my mainboard, but it would not reach an add on card installed in an expansion slot. The power switch, reset switch, hard drive indicator, and power LED cables are ribboned together with an awkward rainbow color pattern. A solid black would have been much easier on the eyes.
The optical device was simple to install and involved removal of the front cover and lightly pushing the drive into place. It locks in place by pressing the front lock forward and the rear lock back. The hard drives are mounted into the supplied bay holders. The full 3.5" bay holder uses a tool-less design as well as a screw-in option. The plastic 2.5" adapter plate does require screwing in the drive. Lastly pictured are the drives in their respective bays.
Installing the power supply is easy as pie. Simply choose which direction you want the power supply to face and screw it in with provided hardware. It's really nice to see this mounting option which only adds to the possibilities of the builder.
Fully assembled the case shows its length and adaptability. An internally mounted 240 mm liquid cooling radiator is shown above. The Thermochill PA 120.2 is a thick radiator and did cause some problems with the only set of fans blocking one of the available memory slots. While a 360 mm radiator is listed as one of the key features of the case, there will be limitations on choices for thickness of radiators, fans used, and internal radiator setup. Nonetheless the inside of the case is lengthy and fully capable of handling even the longest graphics cards currently on the market.
Finished Looks
Returning the case panels and powering on the system, the case really looks pretty. The four intake fans emit a nice blue glow that is not overpowering at all. The accenting side panel windows really are an exquisite touch to the case. With the side windows aligning perfectly with the internally mounted water cooling reservoir it's perfect for monitoring water levels in this setup.
Viewing the front of the case displays the two blue led fans, both whirl quietly and produce a sufficient amount of air flow. The rear shows quite a bit of the internal detail due to the amount of ventilation. The ease of ability to control flow out the case is very nice.
