A Closer Look - Outside

At first glance the AZZA Spartan is quite interesting looking and definitely will catch sombody's attention. It follows an upper half/lower half aesthetic with its bold orange bay cover upward and its chrome grill below. The black paint is even, void of imperfections and has a somewhat rough texture.

The front of the Spartan is laid out like many other cases with an intake fan on the bottom and the drive bays up top. The power and reset buttons are located in the center along with a blue power indicator above them. Turning it around there is nothing unfamiliar about the configuration with the PSU going up top and the expansion slots below.

The side window is split into two portions which follows the design from the front that shows the continuity of the overall design. An included 120 mm fan comes mounted to the side and there is room for another just below it. Both sides of the case feature an opening mechanism for taking the panels on or off. The side panels are further secured to the chassis by screws mounted to the rear of the Spartan.

The Spartan's bright orange panel really makes it stand out and whether you love it or hate it, it is indeed unlike any other case. The chrome mesh below helps in balancing the look of the case by not making things dull in the lower portion. The mid section of the front houses the on/off and reset buttons along with a blue light to indicate power. The orange bay cover flips open and is held in place by a magnet when closed. Other than the mesh, the entire front of the case is made of plastic, and the orange door itself is quite thin and rather flimsy. Opening and closing this door should be done with care. Behind the door are four 5.25" external bays and two 3.5" bays.

The rear of the AZZA Spartan is standard fare with the PSU mount up top, the I/O shield and exhaust fan in the center then seven expansion slots down below. Overall the design in the rear is lacking options. The power supply can only be mounted one way as the mounting holes dictate. Too much unutilized space is left between the I/O shield and the exhaust fan leaving the only fan size option to be 90 mm.

The front plastic bezel carries over to the top of the case to house the front I/O panel which consists of two USB jacks, a microphone and an audio out jack. The rest of the topside is painted black like the rest of the case and unfortunately is void of any ventilation. The bottom of the Spartan is unfinished grey and the four plastic feet are pressed into place.
