The be quiet! Dark Base Pro 900 was already quite the impressive vision for a high-end full-tower enclosure by be quiet!. With the rev. 2, you get the same case with a surprising amount of additional features that are not really apparent from the get go. They do not only include the shroud with its mounting possibilities, but updated the I/O and included faster fans with a better fan controller, a PCB that now supports more fans and RGB lighting elements, and a side window that has been made to look better with the black strips. All these are mostly tangible and useful revisions, but it does come at a small price: less overall storage space out of the box. However, even if you own the original version, you can also essentially get the same experience with the exception of the PCB and I/O as the shroud and HDD elements may be purchased separately.

With all that in mind, the original conclusion of the Dark Base Pro 900 still holds true as be quiet! has managed to make the case look traditional and understated on the outside, but has poured considerable time and resources into the interior feature set and the compatibility of the Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2. However, the exterior also already hints at these well-thought-out interior elements, starting with the clean design and front cover, and the door, which hides the drive bay and retail-grade 140 mm fans, can be set to swing open in either direction, while the drive bay covers are extremely easy to remove should you want to use these bays.

But the interior is where the magic happens. be quiet! has steered clear of using plastic bits and pieces and instead offers individual metal drive bays for massive storage capability, and even designed the interior in a way that defies a traditional mass-market approach for the ability to go all out when it comes to liquid cooling. The Dark Base Pro 900 rev. 2 is not simply capable of holding all-in-one cooling units. This case will shine if filled with individual, custom-made liquid-cooling loops using multiple thick radiators. But even those who simply want potent air cooling will find three 140 mm retail SilentWings 3 fans inside, and the ability to add a slew more to push even more air through the system. To keep things quiet, be quiet! has included a fan controller with enough expandability to adjust the speed of a fully filled system.

But things do not end there. Due to the modular approach, you could take advantage of simply using the external motherboard tray during the assembly process, or step it up when it comes to radiator choice by going as far as reversing the board for an added thermal benefit and even more flexibility.
