Packaging

The box is pretty large and be quiet!'s logo, although small, easily stands out because of the font's distinctive color. The face of a PSU's package usually holds the corresponding 80 Plus certification badge, but be quiet! chose not to parade it around since this unit is only Bronze certified, although its price puts it up against the Gold-certified competition.

On this side, we find a features description in French and Portuguese.

Here is a useful schematic of all available connectors along with their cable length.

The back of the package holds a photo of the PSU that highlights its three crucial features: The fully modular design, its Cool Off function of the fan, and the high quality SilentWings fan. You will also find the power-specifications table and a features description in two languages, English and German, here.

Near the bottom-left corner are a series of badges, including the 80 Plus Bronze badge, and a list of various awards be quiet! earned from various review sites, including TPU's Recommended award, can be found on the obverse side.

Contents

The contents of the box are nicely arranged, and the PSU comes inside a nice cloth bag.

The modular cables are tied together by three Velcro straps, and the rest of the bundle consists of an AC power cord, the user's manual, enough zip ties, and a set of fixing bolts.

Exterior

The PSU features a nice and distinctive look, and its finish is of high quality. It is close to matte, so it isn't that prone to fingerprints, which allowed us to put our gloves aside during our photo-shooting session. The exhaust grill at the front doesn't follow the classic honeycomb style, and the small on/off switch resides next to the AC receptacle. A decal with the capacity description is installed at the fan grill's centerpiece, which features be quiet's typical design, while the fully modular panel with just as many sockets as its 1000 W sibling can be found on the back. While all the typical connectors are there, you will also find three for case fans that the PSU will thermally control.

The dimensions are a little on the large side for a 850 W PSU, but a normal ATX case will easily house the unit.

The cables don't use dark wires, but their sleeving quality is good enough for regular users. The only downside here is the rigidity of some cables due to the thick gauges be quiet! used for lower voltage drops at high loads.

Besides the usual cables. you will also get three special ones for connecting case fans. This feature will save you from buying a fan controller for your case; however, you won't be able to manually adjust the speed of the fans as they will automatically be controlled by the PSU.
