Bitspower Premium Summit M CPU Block Review

Value and Conclusion

  • The Bitspower Premium Summit M CPU water block is a recent release and comes in two finish options for the top. Either version was originally priced at NT$4500 (~US$150) from the Bitspower webshop, but our discussion with Bitspower about this led to them lowering the cost to NT$3720 from their webshop and US$130 for customers in the USA when retailers get stock.
  • Excellent CPU socket compatibility for both Intel and AMD platforms
  • Very good thermal performance
  • Integrated digital RGB lighting that is controllable by most motherboards
  • Great build quality and premium unboxing experience
  • Expensive even compared to other full metal CPU blocks
  • Relatively high coolant flow restriction
My original conclusion was definitely more negative because $150 for the Bitspower Premium Summit M CPU block was effectively monoblock territory in a CPU block market where even full metal blocks can be had for ~$100, and a little over for RGB integrated versions. For context, the EK-Velocity in the nickel/nickel variant can be had for $110, but does use nickel-plated brass for the top rather than copper. So the new $130 price point is definitely a good thing for the Premium Summit M, and I am happy to have made a convincing argument on this. It was slated to be $120 at one point, so things could still have been better.

I understand where Bitspower is coming from with the new Premium lineup, even with this $130 block now costing less than the Summit M OLED (more on that separately soon). They brought forward the TouchAqua brand to appeal to the more budget-conscious consumer who wants more value for money than from the Bitspower brand while also aiming to counter the Bykskis and Barrows of this world. This new Bitspower Premium range is clearly aimed at the other end of the market, at least as far as pricing goes for the two CPU blocks out so far (the gunmetal and black metal Premium Summit M). I would have liked to see it come with thermal paste and the printed manual less expensive blocks include all the time, but I will give them props for putting out a block that tested better than others at this time, compared to the middle to low end of the performance graph where the predecessors used to hang out. Build quality and aesthetics are the biggest reasons people will end up buying this, in addition to the Bitspower brand power, but there is also competition from within the brand itself you may want to know more about as we continue covering more CPU blocks from Bitspower.
