Before we take a closer look at the power station, let's have a look at the provided solar panel accessories. BLUETTI has two solar panel options at this time, and I have three of the smaller ones here. Called the SP120, it is rated for a maximum power output of 120 W, and BLUETTI recommends using three of these in series to make the most of the charging potential with the AC200P. As such, I have three of the PowerOak SP120 panels that are also sold as a kit with a minor discount over buying three individual units. The product boxes come taped together, with the PowerOak branding on one side and technical details on another. Opening the box, we see lots of bubble warp, but also thick foam corners to ensure it arrives unscathed.
Inside the bubble wrap is the product itself, but also some paperwork, including another warranty card. The BLUETTI SP120 solar panel gets the same two-year warranty as the AC200P, but I am less concerned about the warranty period here given the lack of moving parts and transformers/inverters inside. There is also a user guide (online copy here) in English and German. The SP120 is far more portable than the AC200P. Indeed, looking at it folded, it looks more like a folded easel or a desk softbox for lighting. It comes in at 415x410 mm and weighs 4.3 kg, with a very nice handle to help carry it around easily. The relatively flat nature also means you can stack multiple panels when camping, for example. On the front is a pocket that also houses the cables hard-wired to the panel itself, making for good cable management. The technical details are also marked here, reminding you of the open circuit and operational parameters you absolutely need to be aware of when pairing solar panels to power stations.
Each SP120 kit includes two cables that terminate in the same MC4 connectors we saw before. The male cable has a weird pink insulation for some reason, and the female connector is the typical black. The connectors are substantial and have an O-ring bumper and locking tabs to keep them in place. These connectors plug into the matching XT90 to MC4 cable included with the AC200, but also allow you to add multiple solar panels in series or parallel, with the latter requiring an optional bridge connector.
The SP120 has four folded panels held in place with two straps at the bottom on the back, and we also have a support stand for angled use, kept closed with hook-and-loop fasteners for each panel. The SP120 is IP67 rated for the connectors and panels, which means the fabric bag will get wet, but you can leave it outside even in inclement weather. Note the two holes for hooks on one end to either secure the panels to the ground or hang them vertically off a wall/balcony. The panels are monocrystalline silicone with a rated conversion efficiency of 23%, which the 120 W rating already accounts for.
