Packaging and Accessories

The Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ is a revised version of the previous Melomania 1, which I have no experience with. As such, I am treating this as a completely new product, as all consumers would. Packaging for the Melomania 1+ comes with a plastic seal over the box, removing which we see a predominantly black front, at least on the black version I have. The company logo and product name are seen here, as is a large photo of the ear buds and list of salient marketing features. The back switches to white with more specifications and marketing features, as well as another photo render, but with the charging case. A reminder on the side tells you to use the accompanying mobile app to make the most of the Melomania 1+, which we will examine in detail over the course of the review.

The box opens up from the side and unfurls to reveal a welcome note on the left from the company CEO. It's a neat touch that is ultimately left behind as you delve into the accessories, beginning with a handy quick start guide (online copies here) going over all the essentials you need to know about to charge the earbuds and case, pair to a source, and use the onboard controls. We then see the ear buds and case inside a cardboard layer that has cutouts to snugly hold them in place, as well as the rest of the accessories below. I like the design of the box and the layered unboxing experience, which also protects and keeps everything clean while having the brand shine through with more personal touches at the bottom.

This is by far the most paperwork I have received for any earphones, including flagship ones you would have to add a zero at the end of the price to comparatively. I did not even show the ad/brochure for the brand, but the most useful thing here is that small card that goes over the various controls as a cheat sheet of sorts. The other accessories include a handy USB Type-A to Type-C cable to charge the case, and you need to procure the USB charger plug yourself, or plug into a PC/laptop instead.

Cambridge Audio includes a lot of ear tips with the Melomania 1+, in two sets that come neatly packaged inside a cardboard cutout each. These include silicone and memory foam tips in various size—a total of four S/M/L tips each for silicone and M/L tips for foam—so be sure to try them out for your best-possible fit.
