I did not expect much when being offered the Centon flash drive for review. There are plenty of companies out there offering USB 3.0 pen drives with USB 2.0 real world performance, with the aim to cash in on the premium of utilizing the new connectivity standard. Not so Centon, as the Rush delivers everything it promises on the package and more. The company has printed a 60/60 MB/s read/write performance on the package which the Rush manages to deliver with ease. In fact it can push nearly 80 MB/s read and actually delivers 60 MB/s write - if it were not for the regular dips. While these are probably due to the controller used and do bring down the overall write speed result, I did not notice anything during everyday use of the drive. On top of that the sliding design protects the connector without having to worry about loosing the cap and the carabiner allows you to hook it up to the keychain of your choice easily as well. All this is great, but the cherry on top is the price: 16 GB at just over 30 US Dollar is great considering the performance the drive delivers. While other drives in this price range manage to deliver similar read speeds, the write performance really is where the Centon Rush 3.0 shines.
