Cooler Master MasterLiquid ML240 Illusion

Packaging and Contents

Lastly, we also received the MasterLiquid ML240 Illumination 240 AIO cooler. It is based on the ML240 series, but offers a uniquely designed pump housing and specific Cooler Master SF120 Halo ARGB fans. This unit also ships in a full-color box with an image of the unit on front for potential buyers to feast their eyes upon, while the rear has the product details.

The unit comes with all the usual mounting parts for both modern AMD as well as Intel sockets. Users who want to use the ML240 with the new LGA1700 CPUs can get a kit from Cooler Master to make the unit compatible. Naturally, a basic manual has also been included.

On top of that, Cooler Master includes an ARGB controller, which uses generic 3-pin connectors, thus allowing you to utilize it as the lighting brains of your chassis even if your motherboard lacks such an ability. Lastly, there are several cables, including a special one to convert ARGB wiring from the fans and pump to the generic one, a PWM splitter cable as well as a set of SATA and USB 2.0 to 9-pin header wires so that you may power and software control the ARGB controller.

A Closer Look

The AIO looks very much like what we are used to seeing with braided sleeves covering the tubing. There is a potential fill hole on the side of the radiator, but Cooler Master placed a warranty voiding sticker there (which holds no weight in the US legally speaking).

The pump housing may not look like much while off. However, when powered on, the whole housing will gently be illuminated from within by the ARGB lighting. It uses a 3-pin connector to power and adjust the pump speed, alongside one of the special ARGB connectors leading to the generic end via the aforementioned adapter cable. The copper base of the Cooler Master ML240 Illumination is the same as on several other variants of the series.

The AIO also ships with two retail-grade SF120 Halo fans, which you may also purchase separately from Cooler Master. This would allow you to create a build with a unified set of ARGB fans. They sport hub-mounted lighting and wave-shaped blades.

Additional ARGB elements are built into the frame of the fans, which will create a halo effect true to the product name. These will be visible from all sides of the fan, so you won't have to worry about blocking any lighting effects no matter how the fans are placed.

The controller comes with three 3-pin ARGB ports on one side and power as well as USB connectivity on the other. Cooler Master also embedded magnets into the housing to easily attach the controller to a metal surface.
