Value and Conclusion
- The 32 GB (4x 8 GB) Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 4000 MHz kit is available today for around US$599.99.
- Topnotch performance
- Excellent RGB
- Unrivaled build quality
The design of the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB is stunningly beautiful. The build quality is unrivaled and even the packaging has a premium feel. The white finish is bright, uniform, and surprisingly forgiving of fingerprints. The gold is sharp and consistent, and the granularity of the gold cast accents lends an extra sparkle that enhances the look even further.
For RGB LEDs, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB has great coverage, excellent diffusion, and almost endless customization with the brand's own iCUE software. The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB also has great stock lighting effects for those who eschew extra software, and this kit is compatible with the lighting software from all four major motherboard vendors.
Still, great looks must be second to performance. For overclocking, the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB proved to have a decent amount of headroom, reaching 4133 MHz stable with my ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming 7 and Intel Core i9-9900K combo. My Ryzen testing was also productive. The Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB achieved 4066 MHz with the stock XMP timings on my MSI MEG X570 ACE paired with a Ryzen 5 3600X. Manually tuning the timings at 3600 MHz, I was able to tighten them down to CL16, which is not a bad result, although certainly not the best I have seen from Samsung B-die ICs.
Finally, we come to the price. The tested spec of the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB comes in at an eye-watering US$599.99. From a price to performance standpoint, this kit does not fair well against the competition. However, more reasonably specced Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB kits can be had at much more competitive prices. Given the stunning aesthetics and great build quality, the white edition of the Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB may be the perfect compliment to your next high-end PC.
