Packaging

Cougar has an easily recognizable package design in which the left side of each box is entirely orange, while all others are mainly black and covered in the usual information, technical specifications, and render pictures. The front of the Surpassion box can't be opened, which, if you ask me, isn't off-putting at all. I prefer simplicity, which is well executed here. The contents of the package are the mouse itself, a brochure, user manual, and set of extra mouse feet, which a nice and thoughtful addition—I wish more companies would include a set!

Shape

The Surpassion has a rather small low-profile ergonomic shell. This means the design will mainly be comfortable for right-handed users with small to medium hands. Of course, there will be exceptions as everyone has different preferences. The design is nothing too fancy, but nor is it too simple. Thankfully, the main buttons are not a part of the main shell, which usually leads to better tactile feedback. These buttons have some very subtle comfort grooves too.

Now, the Surpassion is 120 mm (4.72") long, which puts it into the short-medium category. The width is 65 mm (2.56") at the widest part, but the actual gripping width is about 55 mm (2.16"). It is about 38 mm (1.50") high at the tallest point, and the hump is more towards the back than the middle. Most mice with a similar design have the hump in the middle and are a fair bit taller, so it is safe to say the Surpassion has a pretty unique, yet safe shape. If compared to a well-used mouse, like the Zowie EC2-A, it is a fair bit narrower and lower.
