Ballistix MOD Utility

Crucial's modern Ballistix line-up gets some added value that other sticks don't offer—software. Certain Crucial modules, like these Ballistic Elite DIMMs, support temperature monitoring via Crucial's own Memory Overview Display, or MOD for short. When MOD first opens up, you are greeted by a page with SPD information particular to the modules installed. There is also an option to check each DIMM individually. Temperature monitoring can be found on a separate page, shown above.

There's a page to control LEDs, if installed (not on the Ballistix Elite, as trying to access the page sends you to the info page), a software info page, and a page with settings for the software itself, which includes logging the data gathered by the software into a file you can check at a later time. It's not often we get software such as this, so it was nice to play with, and seeing the difference in DIMM temperatures based on load is an interesting thing for sure.
