Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 32 GB 2400 MHz DDR4 Review

A Closer Look

Once I freed the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT sticks from their container and had them in my hands, I gave them a once-over. The sticks are completely white, and the heatspreaders extend just slightly over the PCB.

Both sides of these DIMMs are similar, although one has a couple labels on it; one for batch tracking and another with the specifications.

The specifications label is actually fairly informative; it mentions a part number, the speed of these sticks, their four primary timings, and the voltage. It also shows that these sticks support XMP. The heatspreaders do not actually touch the PCB of the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT DIMMs. They attach to the memory chips and nothing else, leaving a gap through which air can travel and heat can escape.

I took a close look at the white PCBs of these Crucial Ballistix Sport LT sticks, looking for any interesting markings, and I did manage to find some numbers on the PCB that seem to relate to the PCB itself, but not much else. I think it is interesting that the topmost number seems to say "1866," which would be a common memory speed for both DDR3 and DDR4. But given that these sticks are 2400 MHz at stock, such ideas are rather useless. :P
