A Closer Look

The CRYORIG H5 Universal may be a single-tower, but it still makes use of CRYORIG's Jet Fin Air Acceleration technology and Hive Fin design. The fins are 0.4 mm thick and have been spaced apart by 2.8 mm. The tower consists of thirty-eight such fins and comes with about 90% of the R1's surface area because it is a pretty thick single tower design.

The tower itself is offset which maximizes memory clearance. It gives space to the fan without looming over the DIMM slots, and while there is the unique hive-like design of its fins, it is basically a normal single-tower cooler.

The plastic plates on top and bottom and the black 140 mm fan add a nice bit of contrast to the cooler itself. It is also easy to spot CRYORIG's logo right in the middle of plate on top, with its two access holes for screwing the cooler down onto the mounting hardware. The four heatpipes are evenly spaced apart in order to improve the way in which heat is transferred to the fin stacks. The nickel-plated copper base comes with some visible machining marks, but none of them are too serious. A bit more polish on the base would have be nice, but with a price of $46.99, it's unlikely to happen. Still, with that said, the cooler's overall quality is pretty damn good.

The fan CRYORIG provided is the XT140. It uses an HPLN (High Precision Low Noise) sleeve bearing and is only 13 mm thick. The fan's PWM range is 700-1300 RPM, and the fan features rubber acoustic vibration absorbers to further reduce its noise output.
