Conclusion

  • The Cubitek Tank series of cases should be available in Q1 2011.
  • All Aluminum
  • Interesting looks
  • Good quality already
  • Support bar for large graphic cards
  • Plenty of space for large boards
  • Four fans included
  • 2x USB 3.0 connectivity so far
  • Adapters to plug USB 3.0 straight into your USB 2.0 board
  • Front panel does not hold in place well.
  • Internal 2.5 inch bays hard to reach
  • Support bar may just get in the way
  • Front dust filter not washable
  • Only two fan cable extension cables for three fans, but four cooling units present

As this is a preview of a chassis, there will be no award or score. Simply because we cannot judge the final quality and feature set and still have hope that any negative aspects will be fixed in the retail version. That said, the Cubitek Tank series is a promising case, which brings a fresh breeze into the somewhat stagnant all-aluminum case market segment. Even though Lian Li has a fairly firm grip on that, competition is always a good thing with Cubitek getting ready for a "David vs. Goliath" showdown and we have front row seats.
