A Closer Look

Deepcool's Gamer Storm Assassin III uses a traditional dual-tower design that looks quite similar to Noctua's flagship NH-D15 at first glance. The fin edges are folded down, which keeps their spacing uniform and has the added benefit of directing airflow through the fin stack.

Both fin stacks are the exact same and made up of 44-aluminium fins which receive heat from the base via seven copper heat pipes. While most coolers tend to stick with six heat pipes, Deepcool opted for a seventh, which allows the cooler to handle heat loads of up to 280 watts.

A black top plate covers the heat pipes while leaving some of the top fin exposed, which shows off its mirror-like surface for a bit more visual appeal. As for the heat pipes, they are slightly staggered in their arrangement through the fins, which should allow for better heat transfer than keeping them arranged in a straight line. As for the base, it is nickel-plated, but lacks a mirror finish, meaning machining marks are visible but remain unnoticeable to the touch. As for the base, it is convex by design, so it bows outwards slightly, which should result in a bit of extra pressure on the CPU's integrated heat spreader.

As for the fans, they are 140 mm in size, and their frame is the standard 25 mm thick. They feature an RPM range of 400–1400, which can be lowered to 1000 via the included low noise adapters.
