We tested the overclocking ability of the Viper X800GTO with Diamonds own overclocking tool and also with our ATITool.



Diamonds Overclocking Tool above in the first pic shows stock speeds, the next picture on the right is the highest clock speeds the tool would allow us to oveclock. Using ATITool with no OC limits the max I could reach with the stock HSF was 560/567 MHz do to the temperatures rising to 70°C on the GPU. So maintaining a level of control Diamond is acting to only protect the card. But I did dust off a HSF that has to be one of the best air coolers out there. The Viper X800GTO meets the Viper Turbo Magnum.



I only added the HSF and the memory HS are from another kit. But was able to push the X800 GTO another 50 MHz with temps staying below 39°C at 590 MHz on the core. So even with the stock cooler the card still overclocked well over 100 MHz, both memory and GPU. The stock HSF at stocks speeds did a good job. Given an aftermarket cooler and a little more juice provided by a VID voltmod over 600 MHz is easily possible.
