A user-friendly homonymous app is available for free, supporting both Android and iOS systems. Even so, the Rigiet can be used without an app since GoPros and YI cameras are also compatible with it. Once the app is downloaded and installed, it can be connected to the Rigiet via Bluetooth. Whenever your device is online and a firmware upgrade is available, you will be asked to proceed with an update via the app. The Rigiet app offers a plethora of operational modes, as well as some hardware adjustments.
Once your smartphone is connected via Bluetooth, you may choose how to operate your gimbal. Aside from photo and video mode, you may opt for different shooting techniques as well. In short, the Rigiet app offers the following:
- Panoramic photos: There are three different shooting options (180°, 330°, and 12-pic wide angle). A user can also choose the shooting quality (high, middle, and low). In panoramic mode, just hold the handle and the Rigiet will take all the necessary shots for a nice result.
- Photos: In this shooting mode, we may select the time lapse (in seconds, between 0s, 3s, 5s, and 10s ), let it shoot in auto mode, or even manually adjust the ISO, shutter speed, or WB.
- Video: Many options are available in video mode. We may pick slow motion, time lapse video, motion time lapse, instant live stream, or even the auto-tracking feature. The Rigiet also offers seven different frame-rate resolution combinations. We should mention at this point that these combinations depend on your smartphone device. Some devices might offer fewer combinations than seven.
- Time-lapse videos: The Rigiet will have to be mounted to shoot in this mode. In this mode, a user can choose the inter-frame-space interval as well as the frame duration. The video's total length is then displayed on screen.
- Motion time lapse: The Rigiet will have to be mounted for this mode. In this mode, a user can pick from among five key vision angles during a smartphone's movement. The inter-frame duration between key vision angles can also be adjusted. Like time-lapse, the video's duration will again be displayed automatically once everything has been selected.
- Slow-motion video: Slow-motion videos are as simple as taking a video. Hit the power button and start shooting.
- Instant live stream is available through Youtube or a URL of your own
- Picture sharing and video editing are also available via the app. Once we have picked the files we wish to share from our Rigiet, we may download them to a smartphone device.
- Auto-tracking: Draw a box around the target you wish to shoot on screen before you start filming and the Rigiet will track your target automatically.
Other than selecting shooting modes or altering their settings, we are able to make some other adjustments as well. We may calibrate the gyroscope of the Rigiet, for example. However, the calibration of the gimbal is only required if extreme temperature deviations take place. The Rigiet is able to operate at temperatures ranging from -10 to + 50 degrees Celsius. There is also an on-screen remote control you can use for when the Rigiet is mounted. The joystick's sensitivity can also be adjusted by using one of five provided options.
