Steam Deck Optimized Settings
Does "Dragon Age: The Veilguard" run at a stable 30 FPS on Steam Deck? Definitely. Does the game look good? Not quite, since you have to use FSR Performance in combination with the Low preset, Medium textures, and High texture filtering. Also, make sure to enable Triple Buffering since it gives the Deck a couple extra frames that are paramount to reach stable performance.
The image quality is far from great, with the game looking quite fuzzy, with a ton of motion artifacts that are par for the course for FSR. At least the performance is quite stable. You'll rarely see sub-30 FPS dips. When they happen, the frame rate doesn't go south of the high 20s, at least in the areas in which we tested the game, even during busy combat encounters.
The intro area is more demanding than the other levels, but even there, you won't see the performance going below the high 20s. Regarding battery life, expect about an hour and 20 minutes on the LCD Deck and about two hours on the OLED.
Overall, this reviewer is satisfied with the overall performance but not with image quality. However, for those used to playing demanding games on Steam Deck with FSR and can swallow the fuzzy image, knock yourself out.
