Ducky Feather Review

Value & Conclusion »

On-device settings

On the Feather, Ducky has realized a near-unprecedented degree of on-device customization accessible through several sliders and button combinations. On the bottom of the mouse, two sliders allow choosing between polling rates of 125, 500, and 1000 Hz, as well as Low, Default, and High lift-off distance. Furthermore, a button combination turns angle snapping on or off. By default, the Feather is set to right-handed mode, with the right-side side buttons acting as normal buttons. Through button combinations, these buttons can be made to act as function buttons. If pressed simultaneously with the function button, the left-side side buttons have additional button maps (End/Home). All of these functions are available in left-handed mode as well, again through a button combination. By using a third-party button mapping tool, the Feather can thus present button shift capabilities similar to what Logitech, Razer, or ROCCAT have realized in their software suites.

Lighting

Lighting zones for the Feather include the scroll wheel and logo at the back. A total of ten pre-defined and customizable lighting effects are available through button combinations: Wave, Breathe, Color Cycle, Raindrop, Interactive, Halo, Fireworks, Aurora, Static Color, and LED Customization mode. For most effects, it is possible to set custom colors. Of course, the lighting can also be disabled altogether.

Color accuracy and vibrancy are excellent throughout. Here's a short demonstration video in which I go through pretty much all of available lighting effects:
