Packaging

Aside from the mouse, one finds a set of larger replacement mouse feet, set of grip tape, PH000 screwdriver, and a quick start guide in the box. The cable is routed around the mouse to prevent kinking.

Weight

My scale shows around 49 g (+/- 1 g), which is slightly less than the weight cited by Endgame Gear. The direct competitors are the Razer Viper 8K, which is larger and likewise has a solid shell, and ends up weighing 69 g, as well as the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2, which is also larger and has a solid shell, weighing 53 g. An excellent weight.

Cable

The OP1 8K comes with a paracord-like, braided cable. In terms of flexibility, this one is largely comparable with the cable of the XM1r. Accordingly, flexibility is easily on par with the cable of the Pulsefire Haste 2, which is among the most flexible cables around. Compared to the cables of regular 1000 Hz mice, the cable of the OP1 8K requires stronger shielding to ensure signal integrity at 8000 Hz. As such, if seeking to replace the stock cable, it is strongly recommended to use one with similarly strong shielding as unexpected behavior may otherwise be introduced, especially if external sources of interference, such as EMI, are present. The measured length of the cable is 1.85 m.

Feet

The feet on the OP1 8K are white-dyed pure PTFE (Teflon) feet. They are of above average thickness and have slightly rounded edges. Glide is excellent. A recession for a sensor ring is present, and the corresponding skate is included in the box, but must be installed manually if so desired. In addition, the feet recessions allow for larger feet, a set of which is included in the box as well.

Kailh GX 50-55 gf Switch Set

For those not too enamored with the somewhat stiff Kailh GX main button switches, Endgame Gear offers a set of Kailh GX switches binned for an actuation force range of 50-55 gf to replace the default switches binned for a range of 55-60 gf, for separate purchase ($6.99). As the OP1 8K is designed with modding in mind, installing these new switches is conceivably easy: The two screws that need to be removed before the mouse innards can be accessed are readily exposed, and after doing so, all one has to do is unscrew the two switch PCBs, unplug them, plug in the new ones, and screw them in. The necessary PH000 screwdriver is included with the mouse, and the fact that it is magnetized deserves special mention. In addition, the screw posts have metal sockets, so even frequent screwing and unscrewing should be possible without any socket degradation. In addition to the Kailh GX 50-55 gf Switch Set, Endgame Gear also offers sets with various other switches, such as those from Omron, Huano, TTC, or Zippy for purchase. Except for the switches from Zippy and HNCHK, however, these are not SPDT switches, and therefore restricted to non-SPDT modes, unlike the Kailh GX.
