Value and Conclusion

  • The Foxconn NT-A3500 Netbox costs €179.90, which is 10 Euros more than the NT-330I at launch. Add another €35 for 4 GB memory and €35 more for a modern 2.5 inch SATA II drive and you can expect to pay around 250 Euro for a complete system. Foxconn also offers a matching external DVD drive for 59.90 EUR and a remote control for 24.90 EUR.

  • Internal fan surprisingly quiet
  • Great mix of connectivity
  • VESA mountable
  • Card reader
  • Easy assembly
  • Good customization options
  • Build-in speaker
  • Matching USB optical drive and remote control available
  • Only one DIMM slot
  • No pre-installed OS option and lack of ODD may make the inital setup a bit of a pain
  • Was not able to access temperature diode with current applications
  • Fusion is finicky about the memory it takes
  • Fingerprint magnet
  • No way to secure it so it cannot be stolen
The Foxconn NT-A3500 takes an already impressive device and improves on it. While the overall dimensions have stayed the same, the Netbox has gotten quieter and draws less power. This is all thanks to the natural evolution of things, as Fusion is the newest platform out there enabling all the usual features and performance at better efficiencies than products that came before it. Looking at the NT-A3500, there is really nothing to criticize. In the last year, the market has become increasingly competitive. Seven months ago, the NT-330I had a "wow" factor, being slim and compact, but delivering a full set of features. While these attributes are still extremely positive and certainly present in the NT-A3500, things are not so clear cut now. Many companies are pushing ION 2 and Fusion boxes, all of which offer very similar price/performance with an eerily similar set of features. That said, the Foxconn NT-A3500 still manages to deliver some very unique aspects and it is great to see a noticeable improvement in technology.
