A Closer Look - Outside
The Meshify 2 Compact does a great job of conveying that it is part of the Meshify series with its unique front mesh design. As the name implies, it is shorter and thus more compact than the original Meshify 2, but looks just like it.
In the front, the metal mesh is no finer than what we would see in traditional cases, and there is a logo in the bottom-left corner to let you know what brand of enclosure it is. The logo also acts as a little handle to pull the mesh cover off the front panel.
This part of the case can be swung open for easy access to the fans for cleaning purposes. You may also pull the mesh off completely and detach its dust filter for cleaning. As you can see, the design of the two elements is the same, which is a nice detail. To change the fan setup or install liquid cooling here, pry off the entire front panel frame to reveal all screw-mounting positions.
The main side of the Meshify 2 Compact comes with a clean glass window. Just like the Define 7 Compact, there are various degrees of tint you can pick from to best suit your preference. On the other side, the chassis is completely solid.
The PSU bay in the rear utilizes a metal frame as you are meant to slide the unit into the chassis from this side. It is then held in place by two thumb screws. Above that are the seven horizontal slots with individually reusable covers and thumb screws for easy access. In the very top, behind a cool-looking vent, is the second and final pre-installed retail-grade Dynamic X2 120 mm fan set to push hot air out the back of the chassis. If you look closely, you will see two pull tabs, one on each side, which is a clever way to secure each of the side panels in a nice and clean fashion.
You may pull the top off to reveal a fully removable, nicely designed dust filter. Underneath that is a mounting bracket for up to two 120 or 140 mm fans, or a radiator of up to 240 or 280 mm.
The I/O of the Meshify 2 Compact is identical to that of its bigger brethren and consists of two USB 3.0, the usual audio plugs, and a fully fledged USB 3.1 Gen2 Type-C port.
A full length dust filter may be pulled out the bottom for easy cleaning. Even this element comes in a unique design befitting that of the Meshify 2, which is a pretty nifty tidbit.
