A Closer Look - Open Layout

To switch from the "storage layout" to the "open layout" you need to first detach the wire that powers the RGB strip connector in front. With that done, remove the top-panel elements. Next, you have to detach the plate that hides the hard drives after taking out all the trays.

With the main plate set towards the motherboard side, you may place the covers back on to the chassis and utilize all the benefits the "open layout" provides. It includes more space for longer GPUs, the ability to freely use thick radiators in the front, and the possibility for 420 mm radiators in the ceiling.

While you are forced to give up all the HDD trays in the process, Fractal still allows for two 3.5" drives to be installed on the side, out of view. This means your storage capabilities within the Vector RS are cut down to four, which is actually still quite the solid number.
