Func KB-460 Gaming Keyboard Review

Performance

Func went with the Cherry MX Red keys for its first ever mechanical gaming keyboard. This makes sense since the Reds are probably the best all-around key mechanisms with a gaming bias. Their feeback is linear and the actuation force is roughly the same as that of the typing-friendly Brown switches. Like all other proper gaming keyboards, the KB-460 uses a standard layout, so you will not have to get used to the layout if coming from a different keyboard.

Gaming features are plenty on the KB-460. You get a full-fledged driver suite which allows for macro recording, and the ability to store up to five different profiles, which should be more than enough for even the most hardcore gamer.

Typing on the KB-460 is a very pleasant experience. The Red keys are incredible for gaming and do well for typing. While they are not as great to type on as the Brown or Blue MX switches, they are still vastly superior to any mechanism you find on a membrane keyboard. The feel is just so much better—you will never want to go back once you go mechanical. The soft-touch finish on these buttons is surprisingly tough, and they feel great to the touch, and it might reduce perspiration issues—mostly an issue on the wrist rest.

Gaming in a dark room is no problem with this keyboard as its back-lighting system has three levels and a "pulsating" mode, which is there to show your keyboard off.

Driver

The driver suite is pretty simple, but you do get all of the normal features you would expect from a gaming keyboard. From a usability point-of-view, assigning macros is a bit odd. You first press an M key, select which key on the keyboard you want it assigned to, and type in the macro. The normal procedure would be to add/record your macro before assigning it to a key.
