A Closer Look
The G.Skill RipjawsX F2-2133C9Q-16GXL kit's DIMMs feature the traditional RipjawsX heatsink. It comes in a variety of colors, but the red used for this kit is obviously one of my favorites as I tend to like all things red and black for some reason.
Looking at the bottom of the heatsink and finding no surface-mounted bits tells me that this kit consists of single-sided DIMMs. The memory ICs underneath the heatspreader could be Samsung or Hynix—I could not tell. The heatsink's protruding "fins" are suppose to keep the DIMMs cool by funneling some air over them.
A label on one side of each stick gives the stick's timings, voltage, serial number, and barcode "thing". The other side of the stick has a logo in place of the label.
Since I had four sticks, I stacked them up in a way to allow me a peak at each end, and although I did not find much to help me identify these sticks, I found the numbers for its individual PCB layers, which indicate the sticks to use high-quality, 8-layer-thick PCBs. Looking directly through one end of a stick shows the air tunnel the heatspreader creates nicely—a big tunnel for air to pass through.
