Going the extra mile

G.SKILL is very proud of these kits, and given their flashy nature, wanted a unique way to present them. The solution was a specially designed display box to showcase the sticks. My understanding is that the box is only for reviewers (it is assumed that most people will want to actually use their glamorous new memory kit).

The box is encased in a satin black cardboard sleeve with a simple G.SKILL logo in silver on top. Pulling off the sleeve reveals a satin black box with "G.SKILL Trident Z Royal" in silver script on top.

The enclosure features a hinged lid on top, which opens to reveal four standard DIMM slots, and a small drawer on the bottom which stores a Micro-USB cable and a microfiber cloth with "Trident Z Royal" centered on it.

The DIMM slots are surrounded by high-density black foam, and the underside of the hinged lid is a satin white with "Trident Z Royal" in the center. The whole thing is designed after a jewelry box, and the effect is exquisite.

It gets better, though, as you may remember the Micro-USB cable I mentioned. The Micro-USB plugs into a port on the back of the box, with the other end plugging into any standard 5 V Type-A USB. The end result is a stunning display of the RGB LED effects through the crystalline diffuser bar.

I can really appreciate the thought and design behind this kind of extra display. G.SKILL put quite a bit of design intent into making this kit into something special, and it shows most with a creative inclusion like this one. On a side note, the box does not seem to work with other brands of RGB memory, at least in my limited testing.
