Testing Rated Speeds
There are three distinct profiles within the SPD table of the 32 GB G.SKILL Ripjaws 2666 MHz SO-DIMM kit. Thanks to some clever BIOS design on ASRock's part, it is possible to chose which profile you use, although these sticks booted in at 2666 MHz without any intervention at all on my part. For those of you just wanting a simple option to use that is at the maximum speed Intel supports for these SkylakeX CPUs, this makes for a great kit you'll never need to enter the BIOS to use. If you are like me, however, settings must be changed, of course!
Settings were changed using the MemTweaker option from within the ASRock X299-ITX/ac motherboard's BIOS. There were profiles for 2133 MHz, 2400 MHz, and 2666 MHz available to chose from, so I tested each of these on its own to take a look at performance scaling as well as to see what changed voltage-wise, if anything. CPU-Z screenshots from each profile are shown below:
