The Package

HyperX makes great-looking product boxes, and the one the Cloud Alpha comes in is no exception. On the front of it is a glossy picture of the headset, a list of supported platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Mac, Nintendo Switch, VR devices, and mobile platforms), and a list of its key features (dual chamber drivers, signature HyperX comfort, and a detachable cable with in-line audio control). On the bottom of the front, you'll find three badges, with the first two telling us about the Discord and TeamSpeak certification and other telling us that the Cloud Alpha comes with a two-year warranty. On the right side of the box is a list of professional eSports organizations that apparently use the HyperX Cloud Alpha as their official headset. You don't have to be that familiar with the eSports scene to know names such as Team Liquid, Intel Extreme Masters, and Dreamhack Masters.

The rear of the box points out several other interesting features, such as the durable aluminum frame, "Signature HyperX Memory Foam" as the material used on the ear cushions, a detachable noise-cancelling microphone, and a detachable cable with in-line audio control. This is also where you'll see a list of available connections - both TRRS and dual TRS 3.5-mm audio plugs are offered as an option, which explains the sheer number of supported devices.

Here are the contents of the box. Aside from the headset and its detachable microphone, we get an additional cable that turns the single 3.5-mm 4-pole (TRRS) plug into a pair of 3-pole TRS plugs (useful if you already have a great sound card with a separate audio input and output), a note congratulating us on joining the HyperX family, a quick-start guide, and a cloth carrying pouch. When the two supplied braided cables are combined, which you'll have to do to connect the Cloud Alpha to your PC or any other device with separate audio output and input, they measure in at a grand total of 3.3 meters. Now that's one long cable!
